No, but then again the rainy season started here in 346AD and has pretty much continued ever since - we're waiting for the sun like the Jews are waiting for the Messiah. No need for sunglasses around these parts.

Regards

I always wear my sunglasses (can't remember wearing them so much before living in FL) and also sometimes inside as well, depending on lighting, circumstances, etc.... (like looking cool, hehe).   [;)]

P.S.. I have brown eyes.

Green eyes with yellow specks in them.  I always wear sunglasses, but I figure that's more a necessity because I wear contact lenses.

BrutalAntipathy -> RE: For those with Blue Eyes (8/20/2006 6:51:30 AM)

Light sensitivity is more common in people with lighter colored eyes due to their eyes having less pigmentation than people with darker eyes. People in overcast locations tend toward lighter colored eyes, as less sunlight reaches them, so blue and green eyes are common in natives of say Germany, Norway, and Ireland. On the other hand, people with darker eyes tend to be indigenous to areas of heavy sunlight such as central and south America, Africa, and tropical coastal regions as their eyes have adapted to the increased light over generations. The best solution to this sort of sensitivity is to invest in a good pair of UV blocking sunglasses.

Some medications like stimulants dilate the pupils, causing a sort of artificial light sensitivity. If it is possible, not taking the drug or drugs responsible for pupilary dilation is the best way to fix this problem. If that isn't an option, again, invest in high quality UV blocking glasses or specially made prosthetic contacts.

And for the record, the info about eye color and regional location is brought to you curtesy of evolutionary biology. If you don't care to believe in evolutionary biology you are welcome to the alternative of ID, and you may rest comfortably with the knowledge that the Designer hates you, and gave you blue eyes in order to make your life a little more miserable. :)

Mmmmmm
Maybe we do suffer more from the harsh glare of reality .

hehehhehahahaha

So special :)

Can we start a self help group. Subsidized RayBans? Paul Newman as our spokesperson?

If it's about free stuff, I'm all for it.

If it's about Paul Newman, I'll all over it.

In a rabid gymnastic sort of way.

I have very dark brown eyes and can take or leave the sunglasses. I do prefer having them when I drive and got a pair of prescription sunglasses for when I do.

kisshou -> RE: For those with Blue Eyes (8/20/2006 11:03:46 AM)

I have green eyes and always wear sunglasses. When not reducing the glare they double as a hairband.

Evanesce -> RE: For those with Blue Eyes (8/20/2006 12:23:43 PM)

I have blue eyes and, even when I lived in the desert, I rarely wore sunglasses.  I own several pair now, but have no clue where any of them are.

missturbation -> RE: For those with Blue Eyes (8/20/2006 2:45:42 PM)

I live in the U.K where the sun is rarely seen but i have very sensitive eyes so find sun glasses a must even on a slightly sunny day, when it snows and everything glares and when i have a hangover. I dont like wearing them though as i apparently have 'cum to bed baby blue eyes' and how are they gonna have the desired effect behind shades lol!!

corsetgirl -> RE: For those with Blue Eyes (8/20/2006 3:49:46 PM)

Excellent explanation, Brutal!  I believe people who have dark complexions have this pigmentation called melanin.  I have brown eyes and should wear sunglasses, which I am told I will probably have cataracts at an early age due to the Florida sun which is brutal at this time of year.

I have brown eyes and generally wear sunglasses because they make me look way cool.

They say that people have brown eyes when they're full of shit.

I was at the Eye Dr's one time about 10 years ago at the V.A.
The Dr. noted that I had blue eyes and told me; "You should ALWAYS wear a good pair of sunglasses when you're outside if you have blue eyes."

I've heard this too. Not sure if it's true or not.

I've also heard that sunglasses need to filter UV (A and B) out. If the glasses don't filter out UV you are actually doing _more_ damage to your eyes than if you were not wearing sunglasses at all - the reason for this is your pupil gets larger (because of blocked visible light) and more than normal amounts of UV rays are hitting those sensitive bits.

But I would check with an eye doctor just so you get a more informed scoop ;-)

Thanks Wolfie, I probably should go to the Eye Doctor again soon.

Wow, not a lot on this site with blue eyes I guess.
I figured more would respond than did.
