There seems to be an influx in threads about others "bothering" them.

CollarMe has in place a free email system, to protect users. If you do not give out your real address or any of your information, others cannot stalk/bother you there.

We offer the block user function so that you do not have to deal with someone you have no interest in.

We also have the favorite users list. Now for some reason others get terribly upset if they find their name on anothers favorite list. As if they are going to now come to your house and knock on your door. This simply, is not true. There are many reasons someone may add you as a favorite. Maybe they liked what you had to say, or they are interested in you. Maybe they have a friend in the lifestyle that may be interested in you. Maybe they grew up close to your location and want to save your profile in case they have a question or comment at a later time and want to be able to fiond your profile. Or maybe, they clicked the wrong button.

It really does not matter how you ended up there, and to spend so much time worrying over it is almost laughable. If you are in no way ever interested in this person, even if the future contact may be very innocent.. block them! That's what the feature on the system is for. To block unwanted contact. Amazing how it works really.

Use the email system CM has in place to protect yourself, converse back and forth on this system until you are 100% sure you want the other party to have your real contact information. CM can do nothing about a person sending email to your real account. You gave out the info, it is your issue. They system is in place to protect you from that which you get yourself into.

Thanks, it's a good reminder for a lot of people, especially people who are fairly new to internet and don't realize an awful lot of people are on the internet simply to dish out their misery, so best to get to know someone a little bit and go with one's gut feeling before giving out info.

I for one am glad that Trey came out with this post. It will cut down on a lot of melodrama by just digging up this post and linking it to the next mudslinging session/thread.

Or maybe Trey's post could be one of the ones that sticks at the top when they start the "Cry Me A River" Category, along with links to a few threads about how terrible it is not to reply to email. That would really cut down on a lot of that stuff, assuming of course that the folks who start such threads actually bother to read it.

i myself had often wondered what the big deal was if someone was to have you on their favorite's list. Does it magically give them your e-mail address, phone number, or any other personal information? No? Then who cares, i certainly don't.

We can only hope your post will not fall on deaf ears. I'm sorry to hear the complaint in question was merely someone crying wolf. For whatever reason I seem to put people involved in this lifestyle on somewhat of a pedestool. I feel they should have a bit more integrity than the general society. Of course, I am aware I should not do this. Yet, at the same time I have a hard time not doing it.
I know if Doug behaved in any sort of fashion many do we would not be together. Not a chance I would put my life in the hands of a liar.

In a sense you are doing the same thing you are complaining that they are doing.
