I believe thats often the case,  I have a special Friend who's emails and conversations always cheer me up .
  Today i was having a very crappy day and logged onto cm, theres a particular member who pops up on my home screen quite often, His picture always gives me chills ( how shallow of me!!) and i always smile and  say...sometimes aloud..."hellooo Sir Gorgeous!   Instant mood elevators

How do I unwind?  Hmmm... lately, a good bok, a hot cup of coffee and a hot bath.
When he is around, a nice foot massage or back rub from the boy would help.  However since I really only get to see him on vacations.. a stressful vacation day seems unlikely.
If the day gets REALLY bad... irish cream in aforementioned coffee does a good bit for frazzled nerves.

When I am super stressed out and cannot do my first choice, which would be to have a scene and have sex, I either surf the net, read, watch TV, shop till I drop or sleep.

I don't hang on to that stuff for very long.  Things tend to roll right off my back.  Maybe it's the lexapro. [:)]  I used to though and it would just ruin the rest of my day.  I don't miss it.

When I did it was always a bonus when my ex would call and I would have someone to take it out on.  He's always an ass and, thus, an easy target.

i thought i was the only one that colored as a stress reliever. also i journal. a lot. some i put in my online journal, most is just on my puter for me. i used to write everything long hand, but i occasionally like to go back and read what ive written (ive got horrible penmanship)

have a friend that will work on puzzles/lego sets when extremely stressed

Yoga if I'm stressed / lethargic, kick boxing if I'm feeling vicious...   Both followed by the sauna. 

If I'm home, I'll lock the doors, turn off my phone and all of the lights.  Then I lay on the floor and listen to music in the dark for a few hours - Radiohead, Antony and the Johnsons, Matmos or classsical and opera.  It centres me and helps make me more fit for social consumption.

Forget workng on puzzles, that would make me worse.  A couple of weeks ago I had been insanely busy with uni,  work and other commitments, and hadn't been able to sleep for three days .  Coming home from unit on a bus, I didn't want to close my eyes in case I fell asleep and missed my stop, so I tried to do a sudoku puzzle.  Problem was, my concentration was shot, after crossing out mistakes over and over again, I gave up and nearly burst into tears : )  Not my proudest moment.  [:D]

Ooh, the other thing is housework.  Being borderline obsessive re. organisation, I always feel better if Every Single Thing In The House is Exactly where it's supposed to be.

 i my self do a number of things depending on what the stress was and how big ...
 
i keep busy cleaning my house and sorting things out ( cupboards ) the jobs we all hate by putting things in to order  im putting my mind there too , talk about it i have a few good people i can turn to  , read have quiet time  to calm  ,  but i would say "sex" was  and is the best way to forget what the hell it was that started all the stress in the first place lol .

I write down the things that bother me (the time and effort used in writing seems to work for me).


If somewhere else:

Leave and find a quiet place.

I echo all of this.  To add to it, I will write to Master about it, and sometimes I will sit and contemplate what is bothering me and why, so I can put it to rest.

I stay pissed off and start cleaning the house..n then usually when I've finished cleaning I´ve calmed down..and then the next step is to watch tv and after that I'm pretty "okay"

The best way for me to relieve stress is to come home and watch last night's episode (i tape them) of The Daily Show.  Laughter is necessary to mental health and as Mark Twain said "under the assault of laughter, nothing can stand."

there are a number of things i like to do to unwind..

i think the best for me though..is to just cry it out and then fall asleep from exhaustion..
hehe..i like having a good cry and the dreamless sleep i have afterwards...

depending on the situation....surf pottery barn, ikea or hgtv.  it it's THAT serious VENT to someone ....when all else fails a cigarette and a long walk.  with the cost of smokes these days tho....that doesnt happen too often.

I rarely have *stress*. I assign inconvience values to things that upset me as they are happening.
That little snob of a wench who wouldn't knw the difference betwen a Lamy and a Waterman in the pen store that acted if I was going to steal everything in site based on my appearance ... that can be settled by a  call / drink/ dinner to/ with the owner of the store.
That jerk that cut me off in traffic ... his testicles just had to be on fire.
My kids not getting into the classes they want ... another simple phone call.
The salesperson who I've explained the problem to twice who still can not understand my simple issue but is more than willing to solve a problem that doesn't exist ... I simply tell them to stop speaking and find me to someone who has actual listening skills.
The truck breaks down on the way to a not to be missed engagement  ... Evidently it was supposed to missed.
 
There are of course things that are true emergencies that can cause stress. Recently my 6 year old was at camp and decided to jump from one top bunk to another, splitting his forehead open in the process. Once I identified the worst part for me was not knowing the severity of said spilt and being right there with him I was able to calm down. He was on the whole just fine, a hero at camp among his peers, cause he didn't even cry once. He did insist on one phone call when he got to the DR's to ask were his brains gonna fall out and if the stitches were going to hurt.
I also have a rule of leaving the hassles of day to day life outside of my door.
 
When I'm having *me time* which is different I can often be found in a bubble bath, or curled up with a new book, sipping vanilla hazelnut tea.
