I too was upfront with my doctor regarding being into BDSM and the possibility that he may see marks at times. I explained to him that in the past I had been in abusive relationships and knew the difference between what I did now and what was done to me then. I made the agreement with him that if it ever was abuse I would report it as such. If I did not, he could be assured that it was very consensual and most likely thoroughly enjoyed.

Hello,  being the dom in our house and having had to deal with this exact problem on this thread on several different instances. I can attest things can get pretty wild, once some one in the vanilla world makes a accusation.In Florida, if someone goes to the ER or brings the  the cops in, it is a automatic 30 days in jail ,while they decide whether to even press charges, they do not even allow a bail hearing  until the thirty days have passed. Also whether they press charges or not, it does  follow you in the vanilla world.  More and more employers now require full criminal back grounds checks and credit checks  to determine suitable employment  based on those checks, let me tell you even though your not guilty, or even go to trial, it does reflect you in a bad light.  Our house rule now is no play if there is Dr.visit in the near future. We have been lucky thus far  with emergency visits. We have not found any doctors who are kink friendly  thus far. Keep the faith.

nicochan -> RE: Dr's visits (8/23/2006 8:54:24 PM)

I was wondering if anyone knows how to look up the particular laws for their state of residence, for ER visits, doctors, and if someone calls on behalf of neighbors. I did a Google search, but all I have been able to find so far for Louisiana is information on child abuse (important, yes, but not what I am looking for... lol).

Also, I have a related question... I am considering getting a VCH piercing, and I know many women have them, BDSMers or not. I was wondering if any GYNs or other physicians have ever asked, made comments, etc. My Master likes my girl bits shaved, and I feel the need to let a bit of fuzz grow because I am concerned about what he (my GYN) will think... but Master's wife does that, too, so I suppose it's common, heh.

cutew -> RE: dr's visits (8/23/2006 9:15:13 PM)

Never thought of this one...blush, but I know moving on looking for a different Dr in my area is hard, as they are hard to come by.  I count myself lucky to have a regular Dr.
But for all those looking http://www.ncsfreedom.org/kap/ is a site that has kink friendly Dr's of all types, I am sure they don't list all, but even if you know your Dr is, maybe talk to them about such a site?

Slipstreme -> RE: dr's visits (8/23/2006 9:18:33 PM)

VCH= vertical clit hood?

Whether or not you let fuzz grow out or not, your gyno is bound to see it. Explain it openly. Many people have piercings now a days, so she shouldn't give you any grief about it. If she does, it is her loss. More than likely you aren't the first patient she has had that got thier puss or nips pierced.

nicochan -> RE: dr's visits (8/23/2006 9:25:39 PM)

Oh, I've always grown out fuzz, I didn't expect it to hide a piercing, heh. :) I've been to him since I was about 15 though, as it started from an ovary pain problem. I think I worry about what he thinks more because he's a guy, but also because he's known me for so long, as I'm 23 now. I'm just one of those anxious people that cares a lot about what other people think and how they feel, and I'm just concerned he'll hake a big deal out of it. He's done breast exams since I had my left nipple pierced and didn't say anything, but it's not like he can avoid looking at a VCH in the event I get one.

Slipstreme -> RE: dr's visits (8/23/2006 9:52:48 PM)

If he was ok with the nipple piercing he really shouldnt be surprised with the clit hood. Many people who get pierced once, tend to get more. They become addictive to some people. *points to my best friend who has had 4 in each ear, one in each eyebrow, tongue, belly button and nipples. I knew her when she had none.* :P

DiurnalVampire -> RE: dr's visits (8/23/2006 9:57:18 PM)

My doctor always thought I was being abused. I simply bruise easily. I am the domme, but I will still get marks froma play session if I am not careful. I have had to explain to several docotrs, between the karate and the play sessions where I have gotten myself marked up.  My pets have ahd the same discussions, letting their doctors know that they are involved in a relationship where it is consensually rough. Its less of a problem for me, it seems, though.

nicochan -> RE: dr's visits (8/23/2006 10:03:49 PM)

I know what you mean about more piercings. I had my ears done when I was 7. That's kind of a relief about the VCH, I feel better about it now. :) My left nipple and belly were done at the same time 2 or so years ago, but the belly didn't work out. I have plans on getting it done again. A few months ago I got second lobe piercings, and soon after that 2 center tongue piercings, and I want a cartilage high on my ear, but I'm nervous about the pain. If I could have a warmup beforehand maybe it would help? Heh. Endorphins = good.

Edited for my brain being in la-la land about more piercings. XD

Slipstreme -> RE: dr's visits (8/23/2006 10:18:05 PM)

Oh, I plan on maybe being flogged before I get my nipples done. Granted I might just enjoy the act of piercing itself. One thing I heard though, if you can get your nipples pierced, you can get anything pierced. It is supposed to be the most painful of piercings.

nicochan -> RE: dr's visits (8/23/2006 10:22:11 PM)

That's not a bad idea at all. :D I heard that the most painful was septum or cartilage, though. But yes, nips hurt... Part of the reason I have only one (besides letting my Owners choose between regular and decorated, heh) is that it felt like it was being slammed in a car door. ;_; I'm taking good care of it, 'cause I'm never doing it again, lol.

Edited because of being p0wned -- "at" apparently has a filter.

Well, in the first place, if you get the endorphins going before you have the piercing, then you won't have the rush of endorphins when the piercing is done.  I've had my nipples pierced 3 different times (growing shut between each) and it's really not that bad.  By the time I sucked in all my breath and would have said something, it was over.  Just be sure you piercer is experienced and does it quickly.

I've not had any genital piercings, but I've witnessed a hood piercing and she looked like she was about to die.  It's a difficult piece of skin to get a grip on, if you know what I mean!!  lol

nicochan -> RE: dr's visits (8/23/2006 10:42:11 PM)

Ohhh don't tell me that! [:(] I am just getting he nerve to do it...!

Slipstreme -> RE: dr's visits (8/23/2006 10:44:54 PM)

I'm actually excited about the prospect of going into the piercings without any endorphins because I might enjoy the act of piercing. That, and I plan on eventually doing a suspension. If I can't take a 12 guage in the nips, I won't be able to take 4-8 8 guage in the back.

I apologize for the thread hijack, as I am realizing this thread has gone off topic.

nicochan -> RE: dr's visits (8/23/2006 11:28:45 PM)

I think suspensions are awesome, but I could never do it. It would be great to watch, though.

I am sorry as well, we've seemed to have gone on a pretty long tangent.

Back to my original question... lol. I did find this, it may be the closest thing to what I am seeking. It's pretty interesting. It lists by state who is required to report suspected abuse (medical professionals, law enforcement, anyone, etc). It is a .pdf, but it opened in MS Word for me.It is a link from a paper about elder abuse, but I believe the chart that is in this document may be relevany for abuse reporting requirements in general.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: dr's visits (8/24/2006 7:15:50 AM)

I'll get that tutorial thing out later, it's probably far past due.  :)

The best piece of advice is to just remember your attitude above all.  People will be looking to you to know how to react.  If you go into it with confidence, aloofness, and a sense of "I'm happy and fine so let's get on to business" then you'll be far less likely to have a problem than if you attitude is one of "I'm unsure and trying to hide"

Know your local laws, and find doctors you can seriously trust.  I know with the mess of medical care and how females hate going to doctors in general that this adds on even more layers of problems, but with education and a good relationship, you should be fine.

I had my nipples pierced on the 8th of July.  I got a PA piercing last Saturday.  The PA hurt worse.

Slipstreme -> RE: dr's visits (8/24/2006 8:09:38 AM)

I'm not surprised. Everyone does respond differently, although the people I have asked about piercings in general claimed their nipples hurt worse. Even the piercer I was talking to about it mentioned they tend to be more painful. It does have to do with the skill of the piercer as well. Slower the piercings, if they pass through nerves, the more painful they are. Etc.

Perhaps in your state they are not mandated to report, but I am almost positive in my state they are. My niece went to the doctor and had bruises around her neck from her husband choking her. She was asked how it was done, and she flat out refused to say, so they filed a police report. They also charged him with spousal abuse and if he had not pled out he would have went on trial. In this state they do not need the testimony of the victim to charge. They have started trying these cases without the consent of the woman abused because women do not want to testify because either they are afraid or they have "made up" with the abuser (as my niece had). We do have some of the harshest laws about domestic violence though

This is scary as hell, since I have not only a Dom, but a boyfriend as well. I would HATE for anyone to think that my bf did any such thing to me -- he wouldn't, and such is why I have a Dom! Of course, I would never "turn my Dom in" either. I shall have to talk to my gyne about this the next time I see her. She is a very sweet, understanding lady, and I'm sure I won't be the first one to want such things put in my records.

Thanks all for the informative & enlightening thread!
KC

mons -> RE: dr's visits (8/26/2006 3:08:31 AM)

greetings

this is how it is. you must have one you trust my doctor knows me well though i do not have marks on me . i trust him with my thoughts he is someone that you need to trust to tell how you got the marks and no there is no doctor who is one of us who will just e there and everyone goes to him this is not a mafia thing. if you already have one trust him. if no then you must find one and slowly tell him believe me my theripast was so grateful i told him of my times with my males he really was shock but understanding of my need to beat and have what i need. when you do look for one i know you will think he will call the police but if you just explain to him you life style he will be happy to just do he other things. the only thing i think he would worry if you have brusie on your face if they are on you buttocks and legs there is no problem but i must tell you the truth if you have a black eye oh yes he will say something

mons good luck
