Pluto is no longer a planet.  I don't know how I'll go on.  I must go on.

good thing you weren't emporer of that buddy, or you would be hunting up a place to live right now, that would be a rough world to be exiled from or to.

I did NOT get the kerflaffle people had over the changing standards (except it's like anything, people resist change).  We constructed that system on crappy instrumentation and hardly any knowledge and possibility of further exploration.  Now that this has changed, we need to revise the system.

It's just labels anyway- trivia for games and final exams.  The universe hasn't changed.

Don't worry, I'm sure this is going to be overturned--or at least revised.

Oh, and we're talking about this, in case people are confused.

I don't think it'll be overturned.  I've been saying Pluto shouldn't be a planet for years.  I'm glad people have finally come to their senses.

LaM, excellent article, thanks for the link.  I find it ironic that they held the vote on the last day of a week-long conference, when about 1/2 the attendees had already gone home.

LA, people HATE change.  Of course the first definition was arbitrary, and so is this one.  I'm actually amused by the uproar.  I never could get into Pluto, first it always reminded Me of that dumb dog, and second, I was always looking up at Uranus (pun intended).

Ron, just the mention of being Emperor of cold, rocky ice balls makes me squirm.  Thanks!

E.

I think that when cooler heads prevail and in the fullness of time, tradition will be upheld, otherwise we are further and further away from Gor.

It seems rather ominous at t his time of our history..with Armageddon looming:

Pluto symbolizes the capacity to change totally and forever a person's lifestyle, thought and behavior. Pluto rules all the powerful forces of creation and destruction. Pluto is transcendental courage and guts. It gives us new life by forcing us to face death. It destroys to rebuild, and it kills the old self that we may be born anew. It charts the rise and fall of all civilizations and power structures. It rules groups, syndicates and all who pool their resources to boost their power. It can release wealth and opportunity never before dreamed of. It is sexuality and fertility, and represents the secrets of biology and the mysteries of creation. Pluto is linked to the sign of Scorpio and the Eighth House. Pluto revolves around the sun once every two hundred and forty-eight years.
Key Words: power to create and to destroy

You realize that the Scorpios no longer have a governing planet.

I just had this funny thought... I'm envisioning all the astrologers in shock.. "Pluto Not a Planet???? Uh.. well... ok "never mind" then"

Scorpios sort of looking nervous... and wondering...  "You mean we have allowed a planetoid to rule our life? A PLANETOID?!?!?!?!"

It's kind of like finding out your Dom isn't REALLY a Dom..he just plays on on TV.

Dear Pluto,

Don't let those know-it-all scientists get you down.  You will always be a planet in my eyes!  I great planet!  The greatest little planet there ever was!

With Love,

cp

Ron
But I double-goddam guarentee there is one god of the dead in somebodies religion running around without his planet and he is moheftigly pissed right now.

Well, us Saggittarians have Jupiter as our guiding planet, there's plenty of room for all the "horney" Scorpios on it too!

LOL too funny... thanks

LA I agree to a point... but once again those damn rocket scientist are going about fixing things that aren't broke. Pluto was out there minding it's own business and now it''s no longer of value... hate to think of all the test i'm going to have to retake now... LOL
