My slave and I recently had 5 new puppies born here in our home. They are the cutest little things and at 6 weeks are now fiesty and playful and so curious. I was aghast though when I saw the mother dog eating the poop and pee that each of these puppies produced. My slave (as a veteran of taking care of puppies) informed me that this is what mother dogs do for their puppies. Lol. I do realize this is instinct, but this seems to be going the extra mile and then some. It makes the cleanup easier for us though.

umm. the diet is off. a dog should not eat its poop. whatever the dogs have been fed hasnt been digested propery- thus making it seem likfe food again.

Puppies need "help" to eliminate waste. The mother dog will lick them in order to stimulate the urge. She will often times, then eat the results. It is actually an instinct from a time when dogs were wild. By eating the waste the mother was actually protecting the pups as predators would not be able to locate them as easily.

I'm glad I'm not a dog - imagine having to shave four hairy legs.....that would really be something to bitch about. I would quite like a tail mind you - although I think a feline tail would be better than a doggy one. Or am I just kinky..... oh wait, I'm on CM! E

Animals are weird people... a mother squirrel will chew the testicles off of all but one male offspring in her litter. What is more appealing, eating offspring feces to protect the litter from predators... or oral castration to control population?
