Hi IronBear Sadly not - a Laird is a landholder, the equivalent of an English Squire, so no seat for me, I'll have to get there the hard way - up the greasy pole! Some Lairds are also clan leaders (but that doesnt entitle one to a seat either) and some are landed gentry (super-Lairds!), who were formerly entitled until a few years ago when Tony Blair kicked most of the hereditary peers out of the Lords in favour of appointees. E PS - so far its not going well, as the only Poles I know, on close inspection, are not at all greasy.....
