where have your travels taken you? which was your favorite? where would you like to go now?

I spent several years in Europe and miss it terribly. Would love to go back as a tourist and spend a few months just sight seeing.

Denmark - once (flat, boring but very clean - these people know how to drink) Belgium - dozens of times (flat, industrial and overpopulated and grimy, apart from the Ardennes in the west, which is lovely) Netherlands - dozens of times (very flat, overpopulated and too squeaky clean) Germany - many dozens of times (north boring, south wunderbar!) Czech Rep - five times (all good, excellent food, but cities still a bit post communist grimy in places) Slovakia - once (dirty and horrible, the most bizarre people ever apart from the French( Hungary - once (very pretty) Austria - twice (Vienna was interesting, countryside to the south and west is lovely) France - dozens of times (north is awful, east is pretty, south is like another country completely!) Greece - once (too damned hot for my north European skin!) Luxembourg - four times (and this the best little country in the world btw!) After all of that, I know now that travel is simply a very time consuming and expensive way to prove that there is no place like home. E E

13 European countries, including Russia and East Germany during the big communism days. Favorites include southern Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Parts of the prairies of Canada. Right now, I'd settle for a trip to a beach.

Toronto was beautiful and the iceracing was the tits. But there are so many gorgeous spots here at home as well. I loved the salt flats, New Orleans is a blast, the Appalachin Mountains are spectacular as are the Rockies, the Black Hills are an awesome site as well. My favorite places to travel have always been anywhere there are two wheels and brotherhood with lots of nature to look at.

Hi seeks Vienna - yes the architechture is VERY impressive - especially the sculptures atop the old imperial palaces - how they dont fall down is a miracle. Apart from that though, I found Vienna to be a little grimy with far too many shady characters hanging around in shadowy doorways. Also, the traffic system running through the middle did not help! I forgot one thing - assuming time travel is possible (see other thread), I would like to be back in Germany on the weekend the Wall came down. I was only there by accident, having taken a trip to Bavaria with one of our drivers back then. We had parked up for the weekend (lorry ban) and started again early Monday, but we ran into a massive jam of crawling traffic on the motorway. It was only after an hour or so that we realised the cause - a Trabant, complete with welded DDR plate puttering up the autobahn - everyone was beeping and waving at the occupants. For us this was incredible to have seen this car and we thought it must be some west German playing some stunt as we knew the east Germans were never allowed out to play. In those times, a lorry trip to west Berlin was controlled so that one never even saw an east German, let alone spoke to one, down a corridor from the border, and the idea of an east German in Bavaria was ludicrous. My driver companion always played tapes rather than having the radio on (since he spoke no German), but he switched it on and I heard all about it that Monday morning. We stopped at the next services and I bought the newspapers (still have them) - every German I spoke to was overjoyed and the whole atmosphere was something I had never experienced before and never have since. E

I love the UK and have been there four times. I've also done a 15 day whirlwind tour of France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, and Holland. I hope to return to Europe again soon and explore more in-depth. Stateside, I had a wonderful opportunity to visit Alaska for three weeks back in 2002- absolutely gorgeous! Be well, Julie

USA mainly the New England area and California, Canada, just about all European countries, Morroco, Tunis, Egypt, Israel, Japan, Hong Kong, Thialand, Singapore. I just love Kyoto but I know someone special there so that makes it somewhat special to me. I've thoroughly enjoyed most places and I can't say I dislike anywhere I've been though most places I wouldn't like to live.

I still haven't finished traveling the US yet, and haven't spent much time out of the country. Places I've been and want to return: I'm a history buff, so visiting Civil War locales and battlefields and such are always high on my list. Bahamas Canada (been there as a kid, but there's a helluva lot to see and do yet) Places to visit: Alaska Germany (Octoberfest is calling) Britain Very select things in France Italy Gibralter Dubrovnik Just need travel companions LOL Eric

I loved Paris and Salzburg. Amsterdam was beautiful but has some bad memories and I found the Dutch people to rather judgemental (sorry any Dutch people reading this!) It's a cool city to visit, though. In the Caribbean, Barbados, Curacao, and Aruba were great, friendly people speaking English. St. Lucia is beautiful but expensive. Granada was, IMO, the most beautiful, but the poverty was horrible and heartbreaking. I wasn't that impressed with the Bahamas. Bermuda is also really great. In the US, I adored the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Niagara Falls, especially the Canadian side, is breathtaking. Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio is the BEST amusement park for roller coasters.....again IMO! My favorite beaches in Florida were the ones in the Panhandle near Ft. Walton Beach and Destin. I also like the laid-back beaches in southern North Carolina. And I live at some of the best beaches down the southern New Jersey shore! If you're into Victorian "Painted Lady" homes, come to Cape May!

I live in Amsterdam and I can tell you that the Dutch don't hold back as your experience has shown, I don't think they know how to. Diplomacy isn't their strongest point. I used to get into arguments at first about it but now I think I am as probably as bad as them.

I love the state of uephoria. ild visit there again. yosemite is truly in inspriing place i have been. ild like to see Chengdu China. maybe Tibet. Shanghai sounds neat as well.

My favorite place was Paris (the only city that lived up COMPLETELY to its reputation, both good and bad). The most beautiful city I've been to in the US was Portland, Oregon. I'm still gunning for Greece, Iceland, Australia, Japan, Hawaii, LA, and Las Vegas. I live in Texas now, but it's not where I will end up.

I was born in Queens, NY. Lived in Saudi Arabia as a child. Traveled to Rome, Florence, England, Netherlands, Lebanon, Mexico, Canada, countless Caribbean countries and Bermuda. I've traveled extensively throughout the United States...probably been in almost every state. I've lived in Jersey for the last thirty years. My wish list includes Venice, Greece, Egypt, Japan, Australia, Tahiti, Germany, France (only for the Louvre), Spain, and to make that trek around the US again (just got a camper). So much to see right here in USA Edited to add that my favorite by far was Italy...I so want to go back

Hmmm, as far as faroff places go, I'd say favorite destinations were Alaska, Russia, Ukraine, Norway, and Iceland... Some faroff places I'd like to see, would be Portugal, Greece, maybe a couple of countries in Central America... and, I have been to Canada many times, but still want to see the Atlantic maritime provinces, and perhaps the far northern lake country. If it weren't so damned far, I'd like to see Indonesia...

Paris my favorite place ( i try to go there once a year) The south of france ( Marseille, Nimes, the mount ventoux,...) Amsterdam London and Canterburry Houston, Galveston , south padre island (i'm in love with the water there), San antonio the river walk and the alamo. Next destinations are back in Paris, and next summer Rome. I think about going to Corse and Malta. I would love to go to New York, San francisco, Cannes,Istambul and so many i can tell.

My travels are for work. Short and intense. Very little time for touring about. Usually out in the middle of nowhere. But that is nice. And I get to work with the local folks. Indonesia. Near Pakning on the Island of Sumatra. Austria twice. Pettenbach. Uganda. In the rift valley down from Fort Portal, in a tiny village. Brasil. Near Linhares. I loved all the places. Sao Paulo is the wierdest city I have seen. The most picturesque was one on a large mountain lake in Austria. All the terrains were beautiful. Best thing is, I am a coworker, not a tourist. The people are great all over.
