thetammyjo -> "The Girls Next Door" -- positive poly show? (8/26/2006 10:24:19 AM)

Anyone else ever watch the E channel "The Girls Next Door"?

http://www.eonline.com/On/GirlsNextDoor2/

It is about the three "girlfriends" of Hugh Heffner (yeah, the Playboy guy).

Fox and I watch it and think that it is not only funny (how many braincells do these folks have?) but also fairly positive about a person with multiple partners. Of course, whose going to tell Hef and his girls that they are wrong when he could probably just buy you out and probaby controls the show to some degree so only nice things show up?

I love that show. Ben and I watch it all the time.

I like that the women seem to get along yet they also know there is a clear hierarchy with Hef at the top, then Holly (is that her name? They sort of look alike to me), then the other two. I saw an interview of the three women on Bill Marr's "Fishbowl" on Amazon.com and they have curfews and rules to follow so it seems a bit Ds to me too.

i think he's just an old guy that uses the women as trophies "hey look at me, i'm really old but i can have these identical brainless chicks because i'm riiiiiccchh"

He seems to have some concerns about them. He's met their family of origins, both in his mansions and at their homes, he's got this show but it also promotes them as 'stars' of some type.

As for using someone as a trophy, if she/he knows that and is fine with it, why would it be wrong? I don't think the bottom two are under the illusion that he is their end-all of love -- the first one might be based on things she's said.

Bridget is studying for her SECOND master degree. Hardly brainless.

I confess, I just LOVE that show! The episode that the old girlfriend from wayyyyyy back (I just totally forgot her name) came to visit and was such a bitch. I was just waiting for Holly to rip her a new one but she was so cool, I was very impressed.

Wasn't that Barbi Benton? The supermodel from the 1970s?
