Master and i just got back from a wonderful weekend getaway to the coast.  we have a small two-seater car into which we needed to get our clothes, and food for the weekend. this only left a small amount of space for toys.  so if you only had a shoebox to carry your toys for the week-end what would you pack? also i'm asking for advice on one of our next purchases.  when we travel it's not always a sure thing that there will be appropriate things to bind me too. so we are considering getting either an under the mattress bondage gadget or a 'velcro sheet'  would anyone like to comment about which would be better?  lastly with all the new security regulations relating to flying is there anything we should not take even in checked luggage?

Get the under the mattress set.
I just bought one and it comes with velcro fasteners on the ankle and wrist cuffs that are very secure. Also get some padlocks to go with it as most of them just have those snap hooks connecting the wrist and ankle cuffs which can easily be taken off by the one in them.
I just padlocked the two rings together.

Well if your staying in a hotel just look around. the rod to draw the blinds makes a good cane. the shower curtian makes a good plastic sheet for...whatever. the top sheet on the bed can be turned under to form a anchor point for restraints. the ice is good. and a bundled wet towel makes a killer flogger. just look around the room and let your imagination take over.

Quite compact, for the bed, I use 4 bicycle bungee tie-down thingies.  Most people would find this a problem because of using queen or king-size beds, but I've always gone for 'full' and it works out perfectly.

That also assumes a bed has some sort of 4 legs, or rollers, or what have you, which hotel bed generally do not.

I recently flew with a small flogger in my check-in luggage with no problem. If I had to take just a couple of items, it would be the flogger and my rubber whip. The rubber whip is very silent, just in case the hotel room walls are thin.[;)]
I never need to worry about how to restrain my slave anywhere because with hypnosis I can have her restrained with just a suggestion, and her hands and feet will not move until I verbally release them.

Pack all your "toys" in a postage box, and ship it 2 or 3 days before you leave, using priority mail via the USPS,  to the hotel or destination you're going to be staying at.

Estring: Whoa, awesome! Do you happen to have any links/other resources about that? Is it the same or different than mental bondage (assuming that is "try really hard not to move" vs. "literally cannot move")?

marieToo: Is that reliable? I'm sure it can get expensive, but it would be worth it for a fetish con or something.

In my travel toybag I have the under the mattress restraint system(one of the best things invented IMHO), the over the door restraint system, rope and a couple of extra attaching clips just in case. Oh and my leather hogtie. So no matter how I want to bind him, I am prepared.

I have an over the door restraint and will carry a few clothespins and lube.  When traveling for something other than a fetish event, I generally do not take a lot.  It gives me the opportunity to shop at local fetish stores if the need arises and there are a lot of things that can be found around the room that can be kinkified.

and now, for a definite twist in your pantyhose...

buy two pair of extra tall pantyhose.  If you remove the mattress, cross the crotch areas of each pair of pantyhose, then lay out the pantyhose with each toe pointing toward a corner of the bed.  replace the mattress.  In a pinch, this works real well with a full/queen size bed, for a spread eagle tie down.  When binding the wrist, the pantyhose will not cut off circulation either, allowing for more comfort to the submissive/slave type.

hotel room tortue technique, #43  place an ice cube on the lower back of said partner.  take a hair dryer, and try to move the ice cube up to the shoulderblades, before it melts.

I like over the door clips, dual purpose rope... (can be used to tie down/up, OR cut into peices about 3 feet in length, and use as a flogger;)  a feather duster, a mist sprayer filled with rubbing alcohol, a sturdy leather belt, a night mask, a pair of scarves, some nipple clamps in the jewelry case, two pairs of pantyhose,  and a tube of astroglide.

As others have said, there are many pervertables in hotel rooms if you use your imagination.

If you are flying somewhere, put whatever you like in your checked baggage.  A close friend works for the TSA as a bag screener, according to him there is no reason a 'toy bag' would be questioned.  It may be hand searched depending on what it looks like under x-ray, in which case you will have a nice little note waiting for you "this bag searched by the TSA" or something to that effect.  Knives, whips, clips, restraints, needles, etc... just check it like a regular bag.  Obviously, do NOT try taking anything in your carry on... it will more than likely be taken away.

Not flying?  If room is limited, a few ten foot pieces of rope, cuffs, a collar, blindfold, clothespins, one flogger, perhaps a singletail and a cane, a knife or two... can all be packed in a very limited space.  Think about packing the toys around the suitcases in the trunk.  Fill all the nooks and crannies with whatever will fit.  Collapse a duffle bag under one of the front seats to put everything in once you reach your destination.  I don't see any reason why the 'toys' have to be inside a bag of some sort, except to carry them from the car to the room.  If you do this, don't give a police officer any reason to pull you over or search your car... you'll have some 'splainin to do!

Dear subsa, Ladies and Gentlemen;

Traveling light is a matter of creativity.  Men wear belts, so that can be waist restraints.  Five other belts coiled around ankles and wrists create another set of cuffs.  Panty hose are great and you can wear them as well, regular hose works well with garterbelts as well.  Place floggers in socks or roll in slacks/pants use belts to keep it together.  Some flogger handles are small and fit into men's shoes or boots.  Canes can fit snuggly into spaces, arrow shafts, hardware stores are all over, you can buy dowels.  Handicapped rooms have assisting handles all over, especially in the restroom.  If the hotel has metal hangers, you have a "pimp cane."  Wood hangers provide paddles as well.  Men who wear leather vests, can snap it together, snaps to them and use it as a slapper, flogger.  Roll the vest into a tight roll and you have another tool.  Wet towels, dry towels, twisted towels work as well.
Roll the blankets into a roll, you can make a spanking station, having the submissive/slave over the roll, also great for 'doggy' and so much more.  Behind the knees it provides cushion for connected belts, rope, tie downs.  Hotel door keys make great edge play toys.  Drive thru plastic utencils works great for all sort of things.  Liquid soap/shampoo works for sensation play.  Several neckties can create a silky flogger, restraints and or blindfolds.  Men's pants/women's slacks also provide swatting fun. Reverse a man's jacket, snap shut, take rope and shut off the openings to the jacket keeping hands inside and trapped, then cross behind, making a imprompt straight jacket.  Use men's suspenders to clip on the bottom of the jacket (Down jackets are great for this), between the legs and you have little escape.  Can work on criss-cross of the coat arms.  Duct tape works in all sorts of ways.  Brown paper bag over the head makes a great impromptu hood, make sure there are holes to breath by.  Stuff four pairs of socks with tissue or paper towel, even other socks or hose, then tie off with a rubber band, then use twine, rubber cord without the hooks, butcher's string then feed through a cardboard toilet roll and have an impromptu flogger.  Ends feel like little fists, the toilet roll or paper towel cardboard handle --keeps things orderly.  Women's necklaces that are medium chain make good chain flails.  Rawhide boot laces have many uses, from a impromptu quirt or single tail, just tie on the end of a pencil or something to make a handle.  It can 'tie' things together here and there.  Books make good paddles, so do magazines and newspapers--flat or rolled.  Screw or clip on earrings make lovely nipple clamps and or labia clamps, or male genital clamps.
Hair clips the one that look like butterfly hair clips are great nipple/genital time.  That is just what I can think of on the spur of the moment.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

On my last trip to Canada, I had both my carryon bag and checked luggage searched. Nothiong was taken, although the pussy pump, leather paddle with the heart-shaped cutout and the rope got some strange looks.

SilverWulf -> RE: travelling toy box (8/28/2006 9:07:28 PM)

Strange looks indeed.

Generally, nothing in your checked baggage will be confiscated unless it is an obviously prohibited item.

Carry on is another story.  The rules seem to be changing daily regarding what is allowed in the cabin.

I found one of those in my toy bag when I flew from El Paso to Vancouver last July. I laughed my ass off and was so disappointed I wasn't there when they searched it![:D]

Funny that my other bags weren't searched...[;)]

You can also go to the local dollar store and buy new things to try. Cheese board for paddle, spatulas, wooden spoons, clothespins, clothesline etc. $20 would provide plenty of entertainment. If you want to ship them home, great and if not you're only out $20.
