ducky -> tell me it isn't true... (8/29/2006 2:24:05 PM)

started a conversation the other day with a mistress here on cm...seems she has been searching quite awhile for a subbie. her profile comes across as very negative...if you don't do this or if you do this, she writes, then expect to be blocked, etc. anyway, she wanted a resume but wouldn't specify anything except professional and personal references were to be provided...fine. then she said she would be moving soon because her lease was up...fine. finally, she asked if i had a home or apartment. i said no because i was retired and had been traveling...but could live anywhere for the right person. seems her interest in me disappeared the instant i said "...no home..." there must be a logical explanation for her action. or are there many dominants seeking subbies as a way to provide themselves housing? please tell me it isn't true...

FelinePersuasion -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/29/2006 2:49:37 PM)

Yes it's true. There are some domina's who're just money grubbing personal moochers and status queens.

LotusSong -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/29/2006 2:52:22 PM)

I would not doubt it.  I know as winter approaches.. there is a grand influx of subs that want to move in to serve.. in sunny Arizona.. then in the Spring.. gee, I guess I just am not as submissive as I thought.....

MistressWolfen -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/29/2006 2:55:01 PM)

Yup, it most probably is true. I see no reason why not, as there are certainly submissives that try the same ploy, and I doubt that scamming is limited by orientation.

LeatherBentOne -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/29/2006 2:56:44 PM)

As well as submissives, I might add.  Maybe she sensed that since you aren't "anchored" it means that youre not a responsible person, but I would have at least asked you "why" and taken it from there.  I think that most people are very judgemental and jump to conclusions so quickly without clarification .........and tell me it isnt true ......... even in BDSM it happens all the time.

Best Wishes,
LeatherBentOne

MissyRane -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/29/2006 3:04:49 PM)

well as to me I'm just looking for a place to live[:D] since I'm going abroad in a few years I'm just prepairing..I mean what's better than being able to move in a house and you don't have to think about anything but getting the plane ticket[:D] it's cheap so why not then[8D]
but on more serious notes well..if people actually don't have more respect for themselves & others then let them search..I just hope that nobody ends up with these people at their doorsteps heh "HEY I'm moving in now! Now get YOUR ass out! I've had enough of you"[8D]

DivaDuchess -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/29/2006 3:15:03 PM)

Shame to say it but ... yes there are those out there that will take everything you have give nothing in return.  Keep looking, though, I'm sure you'll find your ideal situation.

GoddessDustyGold -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/29/2006 4:23:03 PM)

It doesn't surprise Me at all, ducky.  I am sure there are many on both sides of the whip that use this lifestyle as a way to become a roomate with benefits.
I have been approached more times than I care to think about as nothing more than a pretty picture who might be willing to provide a roof and a weekly spanking.
Be grateful that you found out this sort of agenda very quickly so you can move on.  There are good people out there.  Ya just gotta dig!

MdmSarah -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/29/2006 4:43:40 PM)

This would be a good reason why folks need to get their lives in order BEFORE they seek a relationship.

ducky -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/30/2006 8:26:05 AM)

guess i came across as a novice...i have been around the block once or twice. so the thought that there are people on both sides who get their kicks playing online doesn't surprise me. i've come to expect it.  perhaps my original post was more of a commentary on the sad state of human nature these days. the "me, me, me" mentality. like others here who truly are sincere in their quest, i miss the "good old days" of being abe to take people at face value. mdmsarah your point is well taken...inner peace comes from knowing and loving yourself...that becomes a springboard for entering and maintaining a successful relationship.

thank you all for your inputs!

To be honest, your OP came off as it were coming from a total novice.  It takes all kinds to make a world, and if you've been around the block in the BDSM world once you know that already.

You've encountered someone who either one, was looking for a new home, or two, who was looking for someone that espouses stability, and in her mind, having a place to call home exudes that.  (I'm of the latter myself.)

RayvenGoddess -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/30/2006 9:54:08 PM)

This situation tends to work both ways.  I have seen many sub's adds stating that they are going to be homeless in a few weeks and need to find a dominant ASAP.  Some people have no problem with this (both dominants and submissives), while others get highly offended.

On one hand I always wonder, are they real lifestyle people?  Or just vanillas, looking to live rent free for a while and play the game of BDSM.  I understand the thoughts behind the other hand though, but I don't think they are always practical.

It looks like she may have done you a favor though in ignoring you, it sounds like you think of that sort of person to be repulsive, so why eve bother getting offended at not being able to submit to one?

cloudboy -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/30/2006 10:45:35 PM)

I've always heard that homeless Dommes were the most creative.

Hell yes -- after they flay you (and countless other vics), they can have the next slave stitch the skins together into a tent and weave the hair into blankets, curtains, towels, sweaters, restraints....

ducky -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/31/2006 11:35:29 AM)

mispandora, you certainly have a point regarding having a home and the stability one could infer from that. perhaps that is what the mistress was thinking. lol, because i chose to do some traveling and not have a base does not mean i am not a stable person. actually, i think it shows i have enough confidence in myself and the wherefore to feel comfortable wherever i am (as my profile says, i am comfortable in most any situation).

LadyMorgynn -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/31/2006 2:57:47 PM)

Yeah, I"m sure there are plenty of those "hidden agenda" types on here.  But you have to be fair.... there are also many so-called subs looking for a free ride/place to live: "I thought you would take care of me," etc.  It's not limited to male or female, Dom/me or sub.  Users are users and they are there everywhere you go.

But to those of us who are grounded, logic-minded individuals, such a thing in your life can be very unsettling and certainly foreign.

DreamyLadySnow -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (8/31/2006 9:53:42 PM)

LotusSong
what a great idea!

I think I will change my profile to reflect my desire to live in Arizona during the winter!

Heh heh

I get such good ideas from these boards,

ducky -> RE: tell me it isn't true... (9/1/2006 8:25:33 AM)

mispandora, when i retired a number of my co-workers thought i was crazy to leave the safety of a base and all my wordly possessions behind. a few weeks later many of them came to realize (and admitted to me) how wonderful it would be to be free of the "encumberances"...they even admitted to being jealous. the logic behind my plan was simple. there are many places to see, many people to meet, and so much to learn. why hole up where i was and miss all the world has to offer? of course, were i to meet someone along the way...perhaps the journey would take a different direction.

rayvengoddess, i agree the mistress did me a favor. its not that i was offended by her ignoring me, my op was noting perhaps what she was really looking for...a new home versus a new subbie.

lol, dreamyladysnow, i was thinking of wintering in florida. should i change my profile to reflect the same?
