GirlyDevil -> Apartment play? (8/29/2006 2:56:00 PM)

I have a 1 bed/1 bath apartment, and was wondering from both mistresses/master and subs/slaves, how do you get the place ready? I'm having a hard time figuring out how to  make the apartment look like a play place. It's not a really big space, about 720 square feet. Any suggestions would be a huge help. Thank you all :)

Tamerofwild1s -> RE: Apartment play? (8/29/2006 3:18:59 PM)

first suggestion . envision it - see it as what you want it to be then go for it .. you don't need a large place to play in .... I play in my bedroom for my own reasons when a girl comes over .... that measures 10x10 .. so you don't need a alot of play space

secondly ... get eye hooks . these can also double as plant hangers for when the vanilla world stops by ...

thirdly .. get furniture that can be doubled as play furniture . a good wooden coffee table can make a hell of a spanking bench if it's the right hieght .... an ottoman can be used for various implements too

I hope my suggestions help you

You could get some sexy bedding and make the bed look sexy and scrumptious, some red  bedding if you like with black trim, or anything you think is sexy. Put some toys out on the coffe table if you have one.

I too live in a 1 bed/1bath apartment. I typically play in the living room so I slide my coffee table, which is a large wood chest, out of the way, use it for a spanking bench or I have even tied a sub face up with knees bent, feet on floor before. I also have a good sturdy wood chair that I have re-enforced the legs and bracing with L brakets. Will soon be outfitting it with small but sturdy i-bolts or I have my sub kneel or just stand. I am actually going to sell my dining room table since I never use it and place a couple of i-bolts in the ceiling where it now sits. My bedroom which you see in my pic doesn't have alot of floor space since I have a queen size bed but then again if they are spread eagle I don't need much space to walk.

AnAtlantaDom -> RE: Apartment play? (8/29/2006 3:37:54 PM)

Be certain the eye hooks are screwed into the ceiling joists which may require a stud finder.  I don't mean a Male Stud either  [:D]  The bed needs to be suitable to bind the sub to it.  If it is a wood bead stead eye hooks can be screwed into it on the underside as well.

Chairs with open wooden arms, like often found in motels, are excelllent also.

I hope this helps.

Not sure if you're looking to purchase some equipment, but as already mentioned, there are some great companies producing play furniture that can easily masquerade as vanilla demure without looking too out of place. Bondage tables, spanking benches, the like.

Some companies make items - like a pillory - hinged to be able to fold flat and slide under the bed.

As for eyebolts and such, I thought about that a few months ago, Myself. I disliked the idea of trying to suspend from the ceilings in a place where I'm not staying long-term just yet. I bought a Tetruss instead. Great piece, but it's still in the box waiting to be used, so I'll have to wait to comment on My thoughts of it. [&:]

If there's room in your budget to buy a few pieces of convertable bondage furniture (it's like Transformers for grownups!!), check out http://www.foxyfurniture.com.  They make a spanking/exam bench, a cross, and a pillory that all convert to vanilla furniture when not in use... no tools necessary.

that foxy furniture site is incredible!!

Wonderfull site!!

I agree, it's a great site, and has given me some ideas for some future creations of my own, as well.

p.s.

soundproofing on a budget... get a bunch of drink cup holders from your favorite fast food location (handy if you have a friend who works at one), and lay them face down, side to side and duct-tape the spots where they touch.  these "panels" of cupholders can then be tacked to walls and ceiling with staples or pushpins, with the domed side facing outward, and make excellent soundproofing that can be aquired inexpensively (or free) and taken down quickly in a pinch.  If you don't know someone who can get you a bunch of these, check out your local bulk food supply place.

Miseri -> RE: Apartment play? (8/29/2006 5:26:52 PM)

I also rent. One thing I did was put some nails in the closet door to hang up implements. Then they are all within reach and easily hidden by closing the door. Another friend of mine put eye screws into her wooden archway.

subkitten32 -> RE: Apartment play? (8/29/2006 5:37:07 PM)

I agree that the best thing to do is to make things that have two purposes.  Hide your eye hooks or bolts and I like a lot of candles for atmosphere, so I always have those around anyway!

You can screw eye bolts into the frames around windows and door frames too where the structure of the building is very strong.
When you move assuming the place is painted white, just get some white toothpaste and fill in the holes carefully and you can hardly tell anything was there.

akisha -> RE: Apartment play? (8/29/2006 8:29:09 PM)

I know a website in Canada where you can buy a swing frame that also can be used to tie someone to, plus a St. Andrews Cross and they break down to fit into a duffle bag.

Great for small places or places where you can't leave the furniture out. and it's fun for drives out into the country too hehe portable dungeon.

I know there is a dealer in Florida as well but i don't know the web address. The Canadian one is www.bububear.ca

Dollbecky -> RE: Apartment play? (8/29/2006 10:05:27 PM)

I live in a shared house with just my room to play in most of the time so I have to make my room seem more  if you know what I mean ... I tidy like a mad thing and use cover cloths* in to hide anything that doesn't fit the mood such as the computer, bookshelves, the vanilla clothing rack  and have candles safely about the place. Look at your decor too maybe ? My tastes  lean towards goth so I dont have to do much; but say pictures of fat babies in bunny suits, that might not fit the mood you want.
Having the bed set up as harem couch bed...somewhere for the Dom/me to recline as the sub kneels?
You're lucky you have your own bathroom ...as long as its spotless and the clutter hidden then maybe you can  use that space too ...a tiny shower with a folding door is rather cramped and prison like if you're cuffed in just panties :)

GirlyDevil -> RE: Apartment play? (8/31/2006 5:40:52 PM)

Thank you all for the great ideas. Yea I have  an ottoman and a couch along with some chairs that I tie my sub to. But again thanks for the ideas and the websites. I'll definitly check them out.

popeye1250 -> RE: Apartment play? (8/31/2006 7:44:25 PM)

Also, you could get some 4 by 4's and drill holes into them and get some long bolts and nuts to hold them together.
You could use them to make a square frame for suspension and alot of other different  bondage positions.
When you move, you just dissasemble it and take it with you!
You could put it around your bed like a canopy bed.
The whole thing might cost you $100.

MistressLorelei -> RE: Apartment play? (8/31/2006 7:58:19 PM)

My former submissive had a condo/apartment.  The heavy wooden table made a nice place to be strapped  or chained to... his bow flex thing was a sturdy place to be strapped to in standing,.. almost like a cross.  the hooks on the ceiling are nice and you can hang anything you like from it, chains around the head and footboards, we even ran chains along the floor boards and fastened them in the corners and under the bed, and they stayed put and were a nice place for attachment anywhere along them,  and bathtubs are good for lots of things.
