chokeme -> breath play (9/2/2006 6:25:29 AM)

Are there many mistress's interested in breath  play, and what type?

thetammyjo -> RE: breath play (9/2/2006 9:00:28 AM)

I do breath control play with Fox -- either using tape or my hand. I do not personally believe that anything around the neck that restricts breathing is safe. Plus using my hand is much more intimate.

I don't know about many.....as I can only speak for myself.  I will consider BP with charges well known to me.  I *must* have a knowledge of their medical history and be assured that they are someone who actually does follow with a physician, who has had a physical within the past two years (including a routine 12 lead EKG and possibly even a stress test for those over 40).  That being said, I have engaged in everything from sleeper holds, hand over mouth, rebreather masks and buddy breathing hoods, SCBA and the occasional vented dry cleaning bag.

One of these days, I'll connect with a hot anesthesiologist and get into vent circuits and knockout play!

MistressTexas -> RE: breath play (9/3/2006 2:26:32 AM)

I have done BP in sessions with no problems. I use my hand, fingers strategically placed to montor the pulse, and an OXSAT monitor hooked up... Very cute lil thing, just hooks up to a finger, and I'm very careful never to let the bloods ogygen saturation drop below 98% for new players, or 97% for more experienced subs.

I guess you don't play with any smokers who have a standing SaO2 in the high 80s to low 90s LOL  Most adults have a Sa02s that runs in the 95 to 98 range.  Hell, the only times I ever really see perfect ABGs (arterial, not just a peripheral) is a vented patient on a challenge FiO2 of 1.0!!!!!!

Bedlam2Night -> RE: breath play (9/3/2006 5:15:10 AM)

Queening is my preferred mode of BP.

MistressTexas -> RE: breath play (9/3/2006 5:26:51 AM)

lol oddly enoughyoure right, none of the subs I do BP with are smokers... I never thought of it till you mentioned it...

And you'll know it the first time you do it, either when your SaO2 is in the toilet to start, or when they hock up a huge sooty lunger when they come up for air!

Lashra -> RE: breath play (9/3/2006 12:45:24 PM)

I personally do not have an interest in it nor does my sub. I would just say be extremely careful if you do breath play it can be very dangerous.

Oh gross. :P
Sometimes I'm so glad you share your wisdom with us MisPandora, because I would have never wanted to find out about that first hand.

Now more towards the Op's post... I am extrealy hesitant to engage in breath play, I don't think I personaly know enough about it to safely do it.  I can see where it is very erotic though.

ladylexington -> RE: breath play (9/3/2006 4:12:10 PM)

I do some tame breath play - hand over the mouth basics. If you're looking to learn about the risks, check out a section in the back of SM101.

lokmyk -> RE: breath play (9/12/2006 7:13:34 AM)

has any Mistress used her foot for breathplay?

Bearlee -> RE: breath play (9/12/2006 8:23:08 AM)

I have experienced a kind of breath play...but it was a hand at my throat to restrict blood-flow at my carotid artery.  I don't believe I've ever even become light-headed, but love the feeling and 'settle' immediately.  There is little else that will put me in such a submissive space as baring my neck for his hand.

PLEASE be sure to do this with extreme caution.

The carotid arteries in most adults contain some amount of plaque, and plaque can cause narrowing. When these arteries are compressed, the plaque can become dislodged, forming an emboli that will go straight to the brain, causing a stroke.

The rule of thumb prior to doing any carotid sinus massage as a clinical practitioner is to auscultate the lateral aspects of the neck over the carotids (using a stethoscope) and listen for something called bruits (pronounced brew-eeze).  It sounds like a blowing or a rushing sound, and can be easily mistaken for environmental noise or heart sounds/murmurs transmitted through the chest.  A bruit is unlikely to be heard if the blockage is under 40%, however, that does not negate the risks.  A bruit also may not be heard if the amount of stenosis is so great that the arterial flow is significantly diminished (80% or greater.) Carotid Sinus Massage is a practice that not even seasoned paramedics like to have to do in the field because of the risks involved (there's other ways to stimulate a vaso-vagal cascade that's far less physiologically catastrophic.) Carotid sinus reflex death is a disputed mechanism of death in which manual stimulation of the carotid sinus allegedly causes strong vagus nerve impulses leading to terminal cardiac arrest.  (Not usually the way I like to end my playtime!)

Sheeshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!  Who knew?  Thank you MisP!!!  Okay then...I'm 58 and probably AM old enough to have a bit of plaque here and there inside my arteries.  Good lord!

All righty then; no more of THAT kind of play!!!  (Though in all honesty, I was talking about less pressure than hand-holding...very gentle, but now ya got me 'scared straight'!!!)  Thank you

TheMightyBitch -> RE: breath play (9/13/2006 10:55:34 AM)

WOW!  I would be interested in it but there seems like a lot to learn!

Pandora, thanks for opening my eyes to studying it first or working with someone who knows what they are doing before I jump in.

MisPandora -> RE: breath play (9/14/2006 4:36:55 AM)

I don't want you to stop doing something because I said so (lest I become the Jay Wiseman of my Generation!)  I want you to go forward and be educated about what it is that you're doing.  There are plenty of ways to do breath play without the direct CSM risk factors......(of course, inviting other risks like arrhythmia, etc LOL)

Everything that we do has some inherent risk, including putting on our fetish clothing (I have a latex allergy) to walking in heels (broken ankles) to the mild and wild SM things that we do to others.  It's always wise to practice RACK -- Risk Aware Consensual Kink -- and insist that your play partners do as well.  Understanding risks means that you must understand and fully comprehend the practice that you're engaging in.  And for a dominant that takes responsibility for their play, it's imperative that you be the best that you can at anything you engage in.

TheMightyBitch -> RE: breath play (9/14/2006 8:23:03 AM)

Don't worry, I won't not do it because of the potential risk, but I will read & educate myself or find others to teach me............Thanks :)

MistressSassy66 -> RE: breath play (9/14/2006 4:39:34 PM)

I like doing breath play with My 'worms'.I have several methods.

I ALWAYS have safety scissors two pair actually close at hand.
My submissives go upto 20 seconds without air.
I start with 5 seconds then increase it as time goes by.
I do the 5 sec 3 times then the 10 sec 3times etc.For someone like isabelle who is really into and has a lot of experience,starting off with 10 seconds and working up to 30 seconds is more fun.

1.Would be just the hands
2. Is using a small shopping bag with a slit in it,I secure the bag to their head and close the slit with clothepins,I like this method as your putting one clip on at a time,you can take your time and build up the excitement of it.
3. I have a hospital mouth piece that has a tube that goes in the mouth,I put the white hospital tape on it to make sure they can only breath through the tube,then I can just use My thumb to cover the tube.
4.There is also the option of a small square of plastic wrap,you can hold it on and take it off as often as you want.
5. Tape works really well also
6. A gag that is tight fitting and holding the nose is another option.

I think I like breath play
