I'm new to computers & on-line life - 9/2/2006 1:13:35 PM

Status: offline 		I've seen many messages in these boards about fakers & posers in the on-line world.  I have gotten to the point where I doubt any woman that contacts me is a female (I am a Lesbian)

I can get physically & emotionally excited at the prospect of someone who contacts me, but because I was duped earlier in the year, I am now overly wary of "letting go & talking freely" with a prospective slave.

What is "proper" to ask for in the on-line world as far as veriying gender? It seems requesting a web cam or phone call is not overboard. What do some of you do about this?

Status: offline 		I dont see anything wrong with requesting a picture. Most have pictures and a webcam is good to have also if youy want to make completely sure. Phone calls never hurt :) You would ask people online the same things basically you ask people offline as you are getting to know them.

Status: offline 		Sorry to hear about your negative experience.  Don't let it get you down.  Just like in the vanilla life, you may have to wade through a lot of unsuitables before you find the one that's right for you.  It's just a fact of life.
 
As for identification...  Just be considerate about what you insist on.  Personally, I'm very cautious.  I have a photo on my profile, but I don't have a webcam and wouldn't use one casually even if I did.  A person can do a reverse lookup to find an address and name if they have a home phone number, so I don't give that out lightly either.  I think a photo is your most reasonable bet.  You could ask a serious prospect to take a new photo for you with a specific item in the frame for verification purposes, I suppose.

Status: offline 		Nothing is really overboard and assuming you are talking to someone who has been on-line any length of time, they likely will understand fully. Besides, clarification is a two way street, they will no doubt have reservations about you as well. I wouldn't suggest jumping right to that immediately however, wait until there is some interest, then go for the identity check. If you ask for a webcam shot too soon, it might appear like you are a wanker just looking for some visual stimuli.

As already written, do exchange some e-mails and explore initial interest....and then I do not see it out of line to request a phone call. I personally voice-verify females but wait until there is mutual interest and common ground to explore for the potential of something more.

Yes, I definately agree. No reason to pursue a phone call if you dont have any common interests. You have to be cautious in the online world. I have been online for the past 7 years and have learned that alot of times even when I think I know a person after we chat for a long period of time, I will find out that they are nothing like what they say they are. Its very easy to start talking to a person and just when you think you know them, it goes bad. I think it has probaly happened to most of us here.
I dont even take time to read a profile if there is not a picture. A picture is a good dtart BUT also remember, a person could put up a picture of someone thats not even them so thats why I suggested having a webcam would be good. Im not saying to get on cam and show all, just have them show their face so you will know that they are male/female.
I know Im new here but I hope that none of you mind me posting and expressing my thoughts.

There is no sure fire way to validate the existence of anyone if you're not staring them in the face. All the the methods mentioned have alternative measures that can allow the person to evade you if it is truly their desire to be deceptive. We are all equipped with intellect and intuition. These will be your greatest assets going forward. Opting to converse in the realm will expose you to elements that may differ from what you'd encounter in person. However, real and deep connections can be made if both parties are sincere and honest.

You should be aware that web cam images can be stolen without your knowledge. Steaming media does exists and can be easily downloaded to give the impression that you're seeing someone live. I sincerely suggest that if you have any qualms about their identity you move on to greener pastures. Unless you fully intend to attempt to bring a relationship from the internet into your real world. The above is moot in the long run.

Status: offline 		A great idea from Zumala about the photo with something specific in it, I also did the same when i was looking for slaves to appear in my fims. when they sent me a picture of themself via email, i replied back and asked them to send me a new picture of themself holding a carrot between their teeth. I didnt get many photo's back but the ones who did turned out to be serious players for my movies. its a crazy world eh:)

Welcome to the digital world.

Network communication is really neat, and the kinds of social venues they create can be great but one of the problems is that it's not so easy to figure out if someone is telling you the truth about themselves.

The real test is of time and talking.  Eventually people will reveal their real intentions either directly or inderectly.  It just takes time to sniff out the real from the fake.  Usually the acid test for me is if they are willing to meet on neutral ground like a busy coffee shop or restaurant.  If all they want to do is keep chatting online or just want to come over to my place, then there is a problem with them.

Asking for a picture is usually a good idea, but honestly I've found that those who are willing to lie can use a picture of someone else other than themselves.

Just watch for inconsistancies in a persons story as you get to know them.
