I am new to this. I do desire to be a sub to a dominant woman. I wanted to find a book on being a submissive servant. I would appreciate your Ladies help with this. I wanted to know if you know of any books that I should read. Thanks.

For particularly submissive/servant works, read Jack Rinella's Becoming a Slave and The Compleat Slave. Claudia Varrin's Erotic Surrender is a bit more romantic and muse-y, but it's not at all a bad book. If you want play as well as service, Dossie Easton and Janet Hardy's The New Bottoming Book might be good for you.

In general, you should not limit yourself to works for your particular role. Read Christina Abernathy's Slave Training Manual, Lady Green's The Sexually Dominant Woman, read Jay Wiseman's SM 101 and John Warren's The Loving Dominant.

Finally, be certain to read critically. Unsurprisingly, the literature on BDSM includes debates and differences just like any other body of analytical or opinion literature, like political science works, for example. The good student of BDSM, like the good student of politics, reads a variety of works and critically evaluates their arguments.

I've never read any master or slave guidebooks other than Female Dominance by Claudia Varrin which I picked up recently for new ideas, but I did very much enjoy the Beauty trilogy by A. N. Roquelaure.  Of course, it helps to realize that Beauty's world is extreme fantasy, and that unfortunately it isn't possible to have a castle full of slaveboys and girls running around on their hands and knees all day everyday, or stuffed ponyboys hauling our carriages around.  But there is quite a bit of information on how a submissive should act.  I also recommend poking around Mistress Troy's website http://www.mistresstroy.com, especially this page http://www.mistresstroy.com/profile.htm which is an article written by one of her slaves.  She's certainly an interesting Pro Domme.

I have to agree with Ms Pandora here on this 2 of her choices which she listed. I have been a Domme for 13 yrs, and a slave for nealry 8 yrs. My two favirite books that best describe consensual slavery or more acurate consentual servitude would have to be Slavecraft, and Becomming a Slave.

I have read Slavecraft again and again. It really gets into a lsaves head space and how we think and analize things. It also gives some useful tools for maintaining the proper headspace.

I have recently purchased Becoming a Slave by Jack Rinella. I have got to say, thati think it is VERY different from his other works and a MUST read. I am only half way through it, but it is an awesome book for subs to read to further themselves, and be realistic in their expections. Its a good book to read as a couple. Each chapter has exercises at the end for you to do, to learn more about yourself, what type of slave you think you are, and what kind of dominant you are looking for, and how to better serve.

I generally dont write in my books. However this is one thati have highlighted pessgaes and penciled in a few nights, as well as Slavecraft.

Keep an eye out and try to get yourself to a presentation or lecture done by Jack Rinella.  He's amazing.  He puts out a weekly column that you can get right in your inbox -- www.leatherviews.com is his website.  He's also just released a book on BDSM and spirituality.

Dear maledave777, Ladies and Gentlemen;

The previous posters have offered some good reading suggestions.

At the Master/slave conference this past July, you have many presentors, to which Jack Rinella was one.  I think Master Steve Sampson, Master Bert Cutler and slave nadine, Master SlaveMaster, Master Z and his slaveboy tony would also be fine one's to sit on; just to name a few.

That said, I would also say; that there are those who can write wonderfully well but, that does not mean that what they write will work for you.  Each dominant is different and that is really what you need to focus on, is their 'ways' in training.  Although books will inspire you, real life will be the experience that no book can map out ahead of time for you.

Being in 'service' to a dominant will lead you in the growth and understanding in being in service to 'the one' and not the lot of us, who post here.

Remember, written works are the author's view on things not the gospel.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

Many of these presenters can be found in a more intimate setting at the trainings that are offered by APEX (Arizona Power Exchange) at the old Butchmann's Training Academy.

Dear MisPandora,

I'm aware of such.  In addition, Master Taino's Training Academy offers training opportunities as well.

I wanted to thank everyone again for sharing. I do have two books on order now. I feel they will give me a good start of understanding the D/s relationship.

I would definitely recommend taking courses with Lady Catherine Gross as well. Although the Servants Retreat isn't offered with the same frequency as it had been in the past, it is a phenomenal course to take if you can. Lady Catherine is a well known personality in the community with direct experience as both a professional Dominant and slave. You can peruse her writings and view her schedule at the website below:

Actually, she's supposed to be finishing up her run of SR's being offered at the end of this year.

She has spoken of creating a different version of the class going forward. However, future courses will be held at her discretion. It is best to join the mailing list or write her directly for more information. I'm aware of a session that will occur this month that was not open to public registration.
