I didn't care for Steve Erwin myself. Thought he was a bit wacky. Reminded me of the guy that thought he could talk to grizzly bears and got eaten for it. BUT, I do feel bad for his family. It is always sad when children lose a father. I am guessing he was a blast as a dad.

Goddess09 -> RE: Goodbye Steve Irwin (9/4/2006 12:09:19 PM)

The guy did dangerous things around deadly animals. You play with fire, you are gonna get stung by a stingray. Personally, I found him quite annoying and made me want to kick him,(or atleast ball gag him) but I do reconize that he was also spreading the word for wildlife conservation. If he wanted to leave a real legacy he would have been more careful and less jackassy. For his fund and his children.

and. darkinshadows, not everything your write is poetry, why center your text that way????? It kinda bugs me.

I just don't think it's a big deal. I won't miss him. In truth I barely care.

You have made no less than 10 posts on this topic..I cannot even begin to imagine how prolific you would be if it was a topic you DID care about.

For heavens sakes...some people liked him a lot..others thought he was a fool. It's all  fine and good.
Why expend so much energy being negative and hostile? What is the reward? The attention, and the idea that you have the power to get someone riled up?
What a waste...on all counts.

The story of the Grizzly bear guy, yeah, that was horrific.

I write poetry? wow... thank you - I think?[;)]
I usually leave the poetry to people who can really write it...
like here - here and here...

As for the font and centring - ts how its always been.  If it bugs you, don't read I guess.
Besides - this threads about Steve Irwin - not me.

SweetSarijane -> RE: Goodbye Steve Irwin (9/4/2006 1:55:18 PM)

I was stunned when I heard about it this morning. My family and I have long been fans of his and enjoyed learning from him on TV. He will be greatly missed. He stood up for and worked for what he believed in. He truly loved wildlife and working with them and helping them. He made a huge difference on their behalf.

I always figured he'd go doing what he loved, but figured he'd be older with slower reflexes when that happened. Never thought it would be this soon or in such a freak accident like this. 44, so young, so much life ahead of him. My heart goes out to his family. May he rest in peace.

IronBear -> RE: Goodbye Steve Irwin (9/4/2006 2:36:46 PM)

Steve was swimming a meter over the rays filming when one got spookes it's reaction was to whip the tail over its body in a defensive strike motion which thrusts the large barb into what ever is there. had it hit Steve in the arm or leg, he would have been laid up for a month ot so but this is the thirt time in a year that a stingray strike has penitrated the heart... For most of you there are things you probably don't know about Steve. he was setting up a huge Animal hospital for injured wild life (1300ANIMAL). This will still go ahead with the financial support of the Federal Government. Steve was passionate about habitat and the loss of it that he often put his hand in his pocket and bought large and important parcles of land to preserve the habitat. this land preservation will continue thanks to trust funds Steve and his family set up.. Sort of sinks the view of at least one person who from my messanger almost caused conflict between the US and Aussies here...To the piece of shit who I wont mention but who hopefully enjoys his food after the mother of all camels pisses in it.. Fuck with our guys even with your dirty mouth and expect shit landing on you. Mods want to boot me for this post let them.. I'm hardly here any more .. Have a new forum to moderate these days..

LadyEllen -> RE: Goodbye Steve Irwin (9/4/2006 2:40:43 PM)

Well I for one hope IB will stay. To lose one Aussie icon is bad enough, but to lose two would be disastrous.

I can not believe people are fighting over a tragedy such as this.  Do you even realize how pathetic you look?

IronBear -> RE: Goodbye Steve Irwin (9/4/2006 2:48:40 PM)

Just come and join me sweet you'd find heaps of familiar faces there too..

If I stay or not is not my decision.. But that "person" declared war on us and I'm not alone in my views especially when they have been shown to all I know.. Emails are such good things to disceminate information from a public forum. A dirty mouth deserves and gets a dirty fight from me..

TheMistressMandy -> RE: Goodbye Steve Irwin (9/4/2006 2:52:51 PM)

As a high school science teacher... I am personally saddened and I know my students will be too tomorrow when we talk about the tradegy.  RIP Steve.  May your wife and children be blessed and cared after the way they would have if you were still here with them.  Your memory will be carried on through your videos, shows, and educational information.  Thank you for all that you have done in the name of saving animals, educating our youth and beyond, and for just being yourself, which is why we love you so much.

subjected2006 -> RE: Goodbye Steve Irwin (9/4/2006 3:02:01 PM)

I loved Steve Irwin
He was funny and loving and him and his wife
actually helped animals instead of just
flapping  their gums about it..
I got the idea for the fences that cross my
creek from  one of  his shows.
I am as saddened by his demise as I was at Jim Morrisons death.
Steve  Irwin was a huge hero to me and  my children.
It bothers me greatly  that they realeased the news  to the press before
contacting his wife,Terry.
I geuss that's show bizz?

No, no - grizzly bears are cute and cuddly. These people were doing us all a favor by getting close up and in the face of these wildly dangerous animals.

Don't forget to set up camp where the bears can find you. And by all means keep that camera rolling...

subinside -> RE: Goodbye Steve Irwin (9/4/2006 3:29:27 PM)

When my daughter gets home, i'm going to have to tell her that he's gone and she'll be upset.  Some of the things he did grossed her out, but she always enjoyed watching his shows whenever we came across them on Discovery.

Timothy Treadwell is the Grizzly Man.  It's an interesting documentary.

I can't think of Steve Irwin without remembering the unfortunate baby dangling incident.
