Steves producer and best friend for over 20 years and who was with him when he died said this morning if Steve could have said anything it would have been:

"Crocks Rule!!!"

I read that IronBear....i suppose there could be worse ways to go than doing something one loves.

Perhaps part of the shock when a celebrity dies is that often you only ever see them at their best and so in Irwins case it comes as more of a shock, and if during his life he had given you pleasure thorough his programs then you have a connection which is emotional.

Last year my son and I went to see a writter called David Gemmel we listened to him talk and then spoke with him. (It was a birthday present from my son to me.) He treated my son very well and left a lasting impression upon me. Earlier this year he unexpectedly died and for the first time I actually felt some emotion about a "celebrities" death, but it was not because he was my favourite author but because he was someone who had taken the time to be kind to my son when he didn't have to. The impression of Steve Irwin was also that he would take time for others.

I don't feel sorry one bit for Steve or his family. He knew what he was getting into and his wife aided him in the majority of his actions. He lives, that another multimillion dollar series. He dies, there's no more needing to go to hot and humid swamp/jungles and millions of dollars to inherrit along with life insurance.

I don't put celebrities on stools. I see people doing a job. They make the national news because everyone in the nation knows them. As much as I do care for people in fatal accidents, who has time to see or read the daily deaths of everyone?

Just watching the mid afternoon news, the Cairns Police have viewed the tapes of the attack and his depth. It appears Steve was swimming in one and a half meters of water with the rays swimming on the bottom. One ray apparently got spooked and launched a defence killing Steve.
