I know you are supposed to be able to report people on this website who break the rules, but I have not once seen anyone punished after blatant rule breaking.

I have gotten email from profiles where it is obvious that they are nothing but email scammers trying to get you email address for a spam list.  I have seen profiles and had emails sent to me that talk about wanting to do some illegal activities that are not allowed to be talked about here.  Some random person trying to get my attention has verbally abused me in a first email.  I reported all these people, and yet they all still have their profiles up and are active months later.

What actually happens after you report someone?  Do they get a warning?  Or does the warning email just disappear into thin air?

Plenty of people have been banned.  Reports aren't ignored.

You never said, are these people still bothering you? Maybe they have been taken care of and noone felt it necessary to inform you as to the actions..I'm not sure, but if they are not still bothering you....????

even with yahoo or hotmail, you still get spam whatever tech they use to prevent it.

i don't know about CM, but try to block such profiles.

dear rayven-
What sort of TOS violation are you speaking of?

I have always gotten prompt response to any report I have made, and have seen the Mods lock down more than a few people (usually after a few warnings).

Stay warm,
Lawrence

Sometimes it takes a follow-up by sending a note to one of the mods here, at least this has been my experience. But by all means, I feel that the issues will eventually be addressed by the powers that be here. It probably takes time simply because they are inundated with reports (some of which are false) and inquiries.

Furthermore, they don't seeming get enough recognition for a job well done. But my hat is off to them for the much needed service they render. They are truly appreciated by some of us.

Just be patient, and persistent Rayven.

Nothing happens to idiots. They just resurface under new profiles.

For kc692:  No, no one is persisting in bothering me by sending numerous emails.  After getting these types, I block them right away.

For topcat:  In new to the boards so I don't understand what the term TOS means, but I double checked the topics you can put the emails under when you report them.  These are all the ones I have gotten, but not all in the same email:

Vulgarity-This message is offensively vulgar.  Now I am not a prim person.  My grandfather and father were in the Navy so growing up around them I came to be familiar and comfy with "salty language".  This means I wouldn't just report someone for a slight usage of some bad words.  He also sent a pic of "his" penis, which I know isn't new.

Threats-This message contains explicit threats of harm.  I got this one in combination with the vulgarity, but when I reported it I categorized it as this type.  A male dominant decided he was going to "put me in my place" and explain how I should watch my back because he was going to come to my area and try to find me so he could beat and analy rape me.  I knew it was an idle threat that would never happen, but I was still very disturbed by the threat itself.  Dominants have seemed to have lost almost all respect for one another on CM these days.

Spam- This message appears to be a solicitation mailed randomly to numerous users.  I have worked for some internet companies before, so I know how spam scammers act.  This one really wasn't all that bad, but I do like CM and I don't want to see it become infested with email scammers trying to get you to give them personal info.

Illegal ActivitiesThis message contains references to illegal activities such as rape, bestiality, or necrophilia.  I guess the first person I mentioned would be under here as well, but I listed it for a different reason.  I reported someone on here for her assertion that she had been used in the lifestyle since she was 4 years old, and was used with animals.  I have no problem with people who write fantasy stories, but she was adamant that this happened to her and she would not join any dominant who wouldn't used her with animals.  She wrote a long, descriptive email about what had been done to her and what she still wished she could have tried with animals.  I'm a member of PETA, and while others don't think so this is animal abuse it is, so I reported her.

These were all months ago.  After checking my "blocked" list, all of these accounts are still up and running.  I no longer have the emails in my inbox, since CM clears out emails older than 3 months, so I can't try to report them again.  Even if they did get frozen, they would just come back on another screen name like SexyRed says.

I'm not a report happy person.  If anything, I should have reported more people who have written to me or when I came across the animal thing in a few of the profiles that I've seen talking favorably about it.  I just wanted to help clean up the trash and make this a better website for all.

To touch on your first post before I get to the reply....

What kind of punishing do you really expect to see?  A public page that lists the usernames and crimes?  A journal entry that states they've committed the crime?  I'm sure collarme takes the action needed and I don't really see how the actions they take need to be voiced to you.  Sure, it might be nice but there is only so much time in a day... and I'm sure your report isn't the last report in the box.

As far as your reply goes; this is the internet.  Collarme is also in many many ways a very adult site.  Vulgarity, spam and hostile threats exist here.  They always have and they most likely always will be.  I really applaud the collarme moderators.  They have a thankless job that never ending...  They do what they can, but until we live in a perfect world you can't expect to never encounter it here.

The only thing you can do is report it if you feel thats the right thing to do, block them if you wish (which I know you've stated you do) and move on.
