I was curious!  I've seen slaves/submissives who wear their collars all the time and have seen one or two whose collar looks and is basically that, a collar.

So, my question is.  What types of collars have others witnessed that are not true looking collars but are symbolic of a slave/sub's collared status?  When I was at TES Fest, I saw what clearly appeared to be a collar and then some I had to approach and ask because they were either necklaces with a small lock on it and so forth.

My boy will probably either be getting an anklet or a bracelet, depending, so that it isnt obvious he is wearing it.  Either will be locking, and some metal that wil be able to be worn in th ebath or shower without a problem. I have seen ID bracelets that I have liked, where their name or registration number is on the bracelet as well. Its being considered.
While I like the necklace idea, things like that are far easier to pull off on females wo are not given a second look for wearing new jewelry. Unfortunately, my boy would be.  We have cosidered a ring, but the implications that would give others was a bit too much for our vanilla senses.

Thanks for your response.  I knew I could count on you to come back with some other posts.  I did a search but I think my search question was to  focused and so nothing came up.  I should have just searched on "collars".

A ring?  Hmmm, that could work as long as it were on the opposite hand from the left hand which is symbolically for marriage.  Or at least not on that finger.

Thanks though.  Just looking for ideas and thoughts on what others have done or seen.

It is possible to have a collar which is fully functional and yet causes no questions. On top of this with the amount of Goth gear being worn and being acceptable it shouldn't be a problem.

Thus I'd have to ask, are Symbolic Collars worn by Symbolic subs & slaves.

Try Silver & Steel, they made my collar while-i-waited, I've worn it for nearly three years now and the only question ever asked about it is how does it fasten... oh, apart from at Shannon airport, when they looked askance when I said I didn't take it off to shower as it was steel.

It's all made up anyway.  So, some might say they're symbolic slaves...lol...just kidding.  Always enjoy your sense of humor.

For me the frist thing given is a token of some kind that can be worn however they want.  It is a reminder that they can see and hold on to when needed and I am not around.  Its their first connection point with me so to speak.  They know they must still earn their true collar, because collars for me still mean something special and I just do not give them out.  I will make a special collar that could be everyday and play, but as of yet no one has ever gotten to that stage with me.

I have just received a solid gold collar from my Master and Mistress for my 21st birthday (last week) ... to the tune of approx £1000 (thats around $1800) ...

Whilst i was delighted to finally be "officially" collared, i cant help wodering if it does indeed LOOK like a collar. Master and Mistress have told me i am to wear it 24/7 and never remove it, unless i wish to be released from them. but my colleague at work commented that it looked like a collar (she knows nothing about me and the lifestyle) , and my mum asked why i have to wear it all the time ... that its "so unusual" it should be saved for more special occasions .... i feel worried that my secret may be out when people start putting 2 and 2 together.

Even though i love it, and think it looks great, i cant help wishing that Master and Mistress had gone for something a little less conspicious. I like the idea of those leather bracelets in the Story of O ... convenient, discreet AND useful lol .... what more could a sub want ? hehe

I wear a 3/8 inch silver snake chain, something I have worn for ten years now,it stays on,only came off recently when the clasp gave up and I had to make another.I have been asked by a friend not into kink, but aware I am,is my chain a collar, and went further to suggest I had collared myself???I see his point, this item of jewellery could be looked upon as such,so could be used as a collar for everyday inconspicuous wear.

Darlin, if you feel you need to hide what you are from people, then you need to discuss this with your Master, and Mistress.  Personally, I would hope... if I gave a collar to a woman, she would wear it  out of pride.  If anyone asked what it was, I would hope she would tell tehm, in her own way.  If they became clued in upon her lifestyle choice, then I am certain they would figure out the best way to bring that up in conversation.  At the same time, I would hope my collared darling would have the common sense to not explain in further detail, unless she felt the need to do so.

Well, to put not too fine a point on things, Conte, a collar represents many different things to many different people, but then, so does a wedding ring.  Symbolically speaking, thats what a collar is... a physical form of reminder to the commitment of a relationship.  Whether you speak of training/mentoring collars, posture collars, public collars, private collars, or dog collars for that matter.

but thats my two cents...

Remember too that in some cultures, it is the right hand that indicates the marrital status.

I have a black leather dog collar.  When we go out, it's turned around with the buckle to the back, that way it looks like a plain black choker.

I have a titanium and gold necklace whose characteristics resemble a link chain around my neck.  I wear it 24/7.

I have a "working collar" which is a dog collar that I wear in his presence and sometimes at home by myself..  There is also a choke-chain for various types of training and/or enjoyment.  I have not been requested to wear either of the two dog collars in public, although there have been times I have forgotten to remove the working collar and went out in it.  I once showed up to work in it.

i have quite a few different collars that my Daddy/Master has given to me. i am a really girly type and he wanted me to be able to accessoize with my outfits so that i might always have a suitable collar to wear in any situation or with any chosen outfit. Most in our personal life and even some in our professional life know the type of relationship we have and so my Daddy/Master doesn't feel we need to beat them over the head with it to get our point across. That all being said, i know this isn't necessarily a typical type of way to "do collars" but each and every one of them is the same thing in our hearts. They all symbolize that He owns me, that He has accepted my surrender and i have given myself over to Him.
This really works for us and a couple of them are more typical than others, as in they are actually collars others appear to be necklaces.

i have not been collared, but i have an anklet and earrings that He made for me.  They have gypsy bells on them and whenever i wear them, with every step and every headturn, i hear their gentle tinkle and think of Him, especially the anklet.  It may not be a collar per se, but it's very effective at reminding me of who and what i am.

edited to add that were i to receive a formal collar, i would wear it with pride, and be reluctant to remove it.  Obviously, depending on the composition of the collar, there may be times when i might be required by an outside force to remove it, but it would go back on as soon as possible and i would most likely inform Him of the necessity of having taken it off.

I believe it is really dependent on personal preference, lifestyle, and what the dominant desires to use. The most beautiful collar I have ever seen was on an 18 carat choker that was joined together in the center by a diamond lock. I could only sigh quietly when I saw it. The necklace was both beautiful and a very discreet representation of her slavery.
