In my chats with slaves, I've been very surprised to learn that quite a few were raised Catholic.  Maybe should not be surprised as nuns in the schools would be a very strong Dominant female figure.

So ..... I'm very curious what religion most slaves were born into.  Shouldn't matter if male or female slave (I would think).

Thank you for responding.

i was raised christian/lutherin, but i became atheist at seven and wiccan at 16.

i was also raised with neither dominant male nor dominant female figures.

Actually, each time somebody refreshes the screen, it adds one more hit...  try it - refresh a few times, go back to the page where you saw the count, refresh that screen, and it will have gone up quite a bit....

Yours,

this slave was raised in the Protestant faith, but through the years has since converted to Southern Baptist.

Of the boys I've had more than one time chat with (including the last), most were born in a Catholic household.    M

There are quite a few Catholics in this world, you know.

I am not a slave, so am not entitled to vote. One of my friends - murdered by his husband in 2003 - was a natural, transformed slave. He was born in a catholic family, but was not religious himself.

Technically I was born into a protestant home, but I was never taken to church and no one was baptised in my family.. still the bible was read and taught...

Additionally, like myself, I'm sure other Dominants have read this thread and have not voted. This will also increase the number of reads vs. votes

I was raised in a Holiness houehold.  The religion is prevalent among the folks in the Kentucky Appalachians, and includes foot-washing ceremonies, and the ever popular "speaking in tongues".

I really don't think that religion has too much bearing on an issue of sexual deviance. Perhaps it's tempting to hypothesize that Catholics, with their ever-popular guilt trips, are more at risk of developing unnatural sexual tendencies.................but I really believe that it goes ALOT deeper than religion.

My family was/is involved in the African Methodist Episcopal Church....A.M.E. for short. We never went to church much, but went though the motions on holidays.  I gave up on being a Christian at 13 years old. Now, I am more a spritual person with Buddhist leanings.

I was raised in a Roman Catholic home, where my grandoparents came from Italy, so I was used to if you did something bad, you'd have to face the wooden spoon or rolling pin while being cursed at and not understanding whats being said to you.

prdslave -> RE: Religion A Slave was Born Into (9/16/2006 1:54:17 AM)

Went to a Non-Denominational church on base, till my mom found an Evangelical Lutheran one. Went there till I was out of the house, switched to Quaker when I got married, and now Im a heathen according to my Ex.
