The "slave topping" thread got me thinkng about hot fudge and whipped cream (fresh), which got me thinking about dessert.
Which got me thinking about the Infamous Banana Split which has become a sort of dessert icon in my mind.
I had this dessert at vegetarian night at a really good restaurant in Pittsburgh.
It was a whole banana, dipped in tempura batter and deep fried.
Yes, I said deep fried in tempura batter.
To this was added homemade cinnamon ice cream, fresh mango, real whipped cream and homemade hot fudge.
It was bliss.

I kept going back to the same restaurant for vegetarian night month after month, hoping they would have it on the dessert menu again. After about nine months I finally asked about it and was told the chef was "over bananas" and would never be preparing that dessert again.
Meanwhile, plantains were heavily featured on that night's menu.
"Could you not just make me one with a plantain?" I thought.
And who "gets over" bananas anyway?

So, let's hear it.
What's the most amazingly decadent blissfully orgasmic dessert you've ever had the pleasure of consuming?
Recipes are most welcome.

I like the pretzel jello salad with strawberries.
It doesn't always have to be about chocolate.  hehe

I'm simple.  My two weaknesses are NY style cheesecake and creme brulee.

Peach Delight

In the bottom of a 9x11 pan pour a large can of sliced peaches and the juice on the bottom. On top of that sprinkle the dry cake mix of either Butter Pecan or Spice cake. Over that pour one stick of melted butter. Add one bag of shredded coconut over that and one bag of chopped walnuts over the coconut. Bake the whole thing at 350 until a knife pulls clean. About 45 to 50 minutes. Top with homemade whipped topping for a truly decadent dessert.

Or buy a chocolate cheesecake

Oh LittlePita that sounds like a dessert my mom used to make except with pineapple and cherries. It was called "Dump Cake". Man, was that good!

I love key lime pie.  The best I had was at a Christmas brunch at a local hotel I went to a few years ago.  They had it down perfectly!  I have had a few pieces of respectable key lime pie since, but they weren't quite as good.

Other favorite desserts are carrot cake, pecan pie, and red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.

Being that I am watching My weight, all of the above are very rare treats nowadays.

Erin - we can go to dessert heaven together.  I love tiramisu and amaretto.  How do you feel about cannoli?  I like them with mini chocolate chips.  yum.  I don't have an ounce of Italian blood in me, yet I love those desserts.
