Iran's hard-line president urged students Tuesday to push for a purge of liberal and secular university teachers, another sign of his determination to strengthen Islamic fundamentalism in the country.

With his call echoing the rhetoric of the nation's 1979 Islamic revolution, Ahmadinejad appears determined to remake Iran by reviving the fundamentalist goals pursued under the republic's late founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Schwarzenegger to veto state-run health plan bill

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said on Tuesday he would veto a bill that would create a government-run health care system for the most populous U.S. state.

The widely expected veto, as Schwarzenegger seeks re-election in November, marks one of the Republican governor's sharpest breaks with the state's Democratic-led legislature this year.

YES! I'm in the middle of a diet for pete's sake.. Don't you know that are many of us out here in situations where the mere MENTION of donuts brings on bouts of depression??? How DARE you.. I demand a FULL apology!

I guess if I was an Californian I would pissed off or maybe I would have got what I deserved. If an American interloper came to Europe and vetoed a healthcare plan I would be pissed in the extreme.

I think America has a tendency to get European right wing dregs, I doubt Schwarzenegger would have got voted into power in Austria but even if he did I doubt he would be able to veto such a health plan.

Ah, but Mr. Arnold is an American now, he gave up interloper status . It seems to me he's put out a pretty good effort to work with both sides and I have admired Arnie for many, many years for his accomplishments. He came here poor and barely able to speak english, and made an incredible life for himself.
