I have noticed that as a general rule of thumb (that means it happens more often than not) one or more of the following has caused all the problems of the world:

   President Bush
  Prime Minister Blair
  Republicans
  Isreal

I couldn't find any statistics about how many registered voters were Republican and how many were Democrat but I would venture to say that it is probably 50/50% give or take a few points.

I did find it interesting (from Wikipedia) that the Democratic Party is upset with Hilary Clinton over her support for the War in Iraq.  Wierd.

I also find it strange that a lot of the anti-above list comments come from Non-US members.  Which is OK I guess, but it makes me wonder why they are involved in American Politics?

I have also noted that regardless of what the political discussion is, it changes to something else within the first 10-20 comments.

Anyway, my question is, can anyone explain all this?   How can it be?

Add Bill Clinton's penis to that list of things that caused all the problems in the world, irrationality exists on both sides

I only see those examples as the medium; a medium for extremist or fundamentalist philosophies. The very nature of the people/paradigm they are supporting or forwarding does not allow for flexibility or innovation.

Given that in terms of foreign policy the Middle East is probably the most important flash point in the world right now, it makes sense to examine Israel's role in it. Given that America effectively subsidises Israel and runs political cover for it, it makes sense to examine America's role too. Given that Bush and Bliar are the two most outspoken proponants of this set of affairs, their role is worth examining too.
Given that the vast majority of us aren't Palestinian or similar we discuss those parts of the problem we can understand....our part in it.

Ken,

I also find it strange that a lot of the anti-above list comments come from Non-US members.  Which is OK I guess, but it makes me wonder why they are involved in American Politics?

I've said this before on here. I don't buy into the notion that Americans know nothing about the world. It is nonsense. I can fully understand why many Americans haven't been outside of America - it's a big place, there's lots to see. It's not comparable to the British going abroad because we only live in a small place and when we do go abroad it tends to be Europe which is probably a similar size to the US. So, by no means am I anti-American and do not buy into a lot of the insults aimed at Americans - obviously, there are more of you so it is not difficult to aim insults in your direction because by virtue of population size there will always be a group who fit the stereotype. Also, due to the power the US holds you are the most visible nation on the planet and thus an easy object for ill-conceived views.

Personally, I couldn't give a flying one what goes on inside the US. I find other parts of the world much more interesting - just a matter of personal taste. Although I do think you seem to be an amazingly idiosyncratic society (based on observations from the comfort of a house thousands of miles away) - that in itself is interesting.

However, US foreign policy is a threat to world peace and stability and you'll find this is what the majority of people have an interest in. Trust me, you're not the topic on everyone's lips and if it weren't for your foreign policy you'd just be another run-of-the-mill country with the bonus of producing films, television and other items of popular culture that Brits tend to lap up.

Regards

I was wondering when you would jump in.   BTW  I have spent over 25% of my adult life in Eruope and Africa and visited the Mid East.  One of my sons has spent 45% of his adult life out of the US but he is only 35  He has spent it in europe, Africa, Asia and the Mid East

I don't doubt it, Ken.

It appears you spend more time thinking of us than we do thinking of you. Oh the irony of it all!

ROFL   I learned one thing.   I am in favor of naked women (well pretty ones anyway) on TV    I am doing dishes.   Someone loan me their slave.   Mine defected to the Democratic Party and thought she was liberated.
