I have a $20,000 teddy bear.  It's shaped funny, it's thick and stiff, but I carry it with me everywhere I go now.  He's my "cough buddy" and when I got him they threw in a quadruple bypass surgery.

If anyone asks _ME_ why I'm carrying the bear, I'll tell 'em: (in a bad New Joisey accent) "because the summonabeach cost me twenty large, and I'm gonna get every damned dime oudda his fuzzy ass!  Fuggedaboudit!"  *LOL*

Seems really simple and dull compared to other posts, but you could just smile and say "cause I like it." If they ask further questions, repeat.

Woohooo! The vanilla cone is gone! I made it ! Woohoo! Now if I can just figure out how to add a tag line and a picture, I'll really feel like I'm "in!"

You need not explain yourself to anyone -

You like it...you carry it.

And if you really feel compelled to give someone an answer - just tell them it makes you happy and walk off.  No reasonable person would begrudge you any happiness in this world...

It's my inner child gift.
Simple as that.  We all have one (inner child).

I think it's good to want something.  Don't bring the bear with you... miss it all day.. and then when you finally get to see the bear....  ooo how wonderful it will feel.  :)

My top has ordered me to sleep with a teddy bear from now on. I'm also a collge student. That isn't the problem. However, I've started becoming very attached to it and I've found myself starting to miss it when I'm out of the house - class or buying grocieries mainly. Anyway, I was just thinking of pinning it to my backpack and carrying it around that way. What I'm afraid of is those people who can't mind their own business and are going to ask me why the heck I'm carrying around a 12" blue Care Bear.

Any ideas for comebacks, and/or good answers besides the obvious "Ask my dominatrix."?..I'm at a loss.

this slave would just smile and say that she was carrying it because it made her feel closer to Master when they were apart

Tell them that within it resides the tantric soul of your poor departed but venerated grandmother.............and it advises you, and it is telling you to kill anyone who is so rude as to ask the reason you carry it.

That should handle the eyeballing issue, especially if you can say it in a Bobcat Goldwaithe style.

Um, you're a college student - if you're an undergraduate, trust me, nobody cares, you're expected to be weird. Trickier if you're a graduate student, maybe, but it can easily pass for a harmless eccentricity - which it is, I suppose.

Down by the tracks, yes, possibly, I can see how it might cause problems.

Don't be so worried about the "vanillas".  They really won't give a crap other than glance over and  dismiss you as a kid with a new fad.

Tell then you're using the bear to smuggle controlled substances.

Dear OP.  This
quote:

"He's my friend. Got a problem with that?"

and this
quote:

made me think:  Take the bear in your arms.  Stand in front of a mirror.  Look menacingly at it and say

"You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talkin' to? You talkin' to me? Well I'm the only one here. Who the fuck do you think you're talking to? Oh yeah? Huh? Ok. "

Worked for Paul Schrader, and it will work for you.

"It's the same thing," he said.

Smile knowingly and explain that you could tell them but then you would have to kill them.

Hello A/all,

What is so weird about this thread is when I am attacking women in the classes I teach, I often walk out there with a teddy bear that is telling me what to do.

"I am being forced to kill you, I dont mean to, but..."

"Mrs. Sherman, dont make me hurt her!"

"Mr. Bundy tells me to skin you alive."

Which is really weird.  I can give you all sorts of ideas on things to say to people who ask you why you have a teddy bear.
