Actually I think regular mannerisms can be just as much/as loud of an indicator for those with a bdsm radar open in their minds. I knew a girl (who I was involved with later) was sub just by how she acted (and she knew I was dominant)... ironically long afterwards once she put handcuffs as a decoration on her rear view mirror nearly everyone thought she was a domme for some reason haha... so it takes a bit of perception but the right people should be able to tap into your energy naturally I find.

I think the triskelion is a far better idea for an identifying symbol than any of the flags it will be easier to incorporate into everyday items and it has a much more pleasing design.

I wear one here in australia as a 'day' collar to work. Its in clear view of everyone around my neck on a chain, (see photo on my sig) I meet hundreds of new people in the line of work that i do. In 2 yrs, ive had 3 people make knowing comment on the emblem (im in australia). The rest assume its a variation of the ying yang thang.

I was talking with someone about letting people out in the world know about me being in the bsdm lifestyle and they suggested wearing jewelry with this emblem on it that is 3 swirls.  I have seen it before in some peoples avatar here.

I can't load a picture of it,but I'm guessing you know what I am talking about.

You see that symbol all over Ireland when you travel there.
Newgrange itself is about 2,000 years *older* than the great pyramids.
In the last few years they dug up artifacts in Ireland carbon dated to 9,500 years old.
If this is a symbol of the B&D community I wonder where I could purchase one to wear around my neck?

It is a very old symbol closely related to the Asatru and Druidic religions as well as a few others. It is most often associated with Ormigunda and Odin.

Here is one place i know of that sells good quality Celtic jewelry.

Hi MB,

A bit of BDSM education time - the word you want to be using here is DOMINANT .

Then here is a great similarity :)

So yes, you will either be identified as lifestyle or part of the government transit authority :)

(just interjecting a bit of humor here.. not making fun at all.  But when I first saw this US Dept's insignia.. it did make me giggle.)

It always has made me react the same way, Lotus!!

I think the symbol simply looks "celtic" to the majoprity of people who see it on things, and if  you werent familiar with "Celtic" it looks "tribal". I'm sure some people might say BDSM, but most people wouldnt. BDSM is a tiny little subset.

But I also think that those who know what is is will be familiar with some aspect of BDSM, and those who are not will just think it's pretty! :-)

My personal perferance for flagging is the leather pride flag. It certainly has seniority:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leather_Pride_flag

One problem with both the Leather Pride Flag and Quagmyr's triskelion is that they
are both copyrighted designs with restrictions on commercial use.

Unlike the BDSM Rights Flag, which merges the two:

Copywrited? How can you copywrite a design that's thousands of years old?

(not sure about posting, since I am one with bad spelling and grammar..but here goes!)
I have this Emblem tattooed on my ankle, other side is a butterfly and leaves join the two.  I have NEVER had a comment about it, yet I have had some smile at me, over seeing the circle!  The largest shock was my Dr, the first time he saw it...Simply looked at me and smiled...LOL  For me personally, if I didn't wish people to know the meaning, just a cool symbol, in a group of 3.  (A mom thing, the other has a group of three too!)  Although, the artist that did it, liked my design, and took a picture for his album, I had to explain to him, what it meant...LOL

Popeye, it isn't the actual symbol that hold the copywrite on it, it is the colours and such.  So there are those that use different colours because of this, but the copywrite stuff is only for commercial use from my understanding.

Well, Quagmyr clearly has the copyright on the GIF image files he created
and published, and if you reproduced them dot-for-dot in some other
format (on a T-shirt) that would violate his copyright too.

But how different to his specific images you can go before it's just
another thousands-of-years-old triskelion is why copyright lawyers get
paid so much ;)

My guess is that http://www.bdsmrights.com/flag is certainly far enough,
since it doesn't include any of the metals / holes stuff that he introduced
to try to make something copyrightable.

Regards,

Tanos
