ORIGINAL: Lordandmaster Heh, this is cute: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060912/ap_on_go_pr_wh/sept11_bush Brief quote: quote:
"Our nation has endured trials, and we face a difficult road ahead," the president said. "Winning this war will require the determined efforts of a unified country. So we must put aside our differences and work together to meet the test that history has given us." Yeah, we should just "put aside our differences"--in other words we should all fall into line and follow the President's marching orders... I don't know what depresses me more, the fact that he keeps trying this shit, or the fact that people keep falling for it. Oh, the statement isn't wrong as such. It's just that W. couldn't unite Siamese twins. It would be best if the nation were united -- that just won't happen under him (and he has shown no efforts to cause it to happen other than just telling people to support him and calling them unpatriotic if they don't). If you want a real single culprit in the division in politics (though it is obviously much more complicated than a single issue), it's the two-party system, with primaries that cause the two choices to have played to their party rather than the nation as a whole..
