Do women actually like football, or do they just watch it to have some common ground to discuss with men?
I  always thought being made to watch any  of these and nascar were the  best punishment around ...... I hate sports but Nascar worse

I hate the new double-header Monday format.  Is that just a football kick off thing or is it around for the entire season?

It was a one time thing, Katy. And your Steelers will be on Monday night, at Jacksonville.

KatyLied -> RE: Do Women Really Like Football? (9/13/2006 3:16:59 AM)

Thank goodness.  I'm too old to stay up late watching west coast teams!
And about football being boring......there is an entire world of football perversion -- you can do interesting things with football.  Rewards and punishments (all in fun of course).

And maybemaybenot - you know you are the cool Pats chick!

About the Miami game, did you catch Joey Porter kiss Cowher?

I think I might actually like football if I understood it. I don't understand that first and down stuff.

Ladies,  it's so simple if you get just this part... the rest is just details.

When your team has the ball, they have 4 tries to move it 10 yards.  Everytime someone is tackled or the ball goes down out of bounds, etc..  is 1 try.  this is called   "a Down".

1st down, 2nd down, 3rd down, 4th down.

If you move the ball 3 yards on the first "try"...  you have 7 yards to go to get 10.    "First and 7"  means, first try (down) , and still 7 yards to go to make your 10.

Now, if your second try gets you 3 more yards, you have 6 total, and 4 more to go to get the full 10.  That will be called "2nd and 4"

If team moves the ball 10 yards in those 4 tries, they "earn" another 4 tries to get 10 MORE yards.  how cool is that?

If you use all 4 downs, and don't score.. the other guys get the ball wherever it's at.  This is where field goals and kicking off to the other team come in.

By the 4th try (or "4th down") a choice is made to continue trying to make 10 yards,  or kick a field goal to try to get some points before turning the ball over to them.   If it looks for sure they can't make a touchdown, field goal,  or earn a new 1st down (4 more tries)  they will kick the ball to the other team, to avoid turning over posession so close to their side, giving the opponant a huge advantage.

The whole game is about moving the ball, 10 yards at a time, til you score...  while selling as much beer, sports apparell and GMC trucks as possible.  The guy with the biggest endorsement contract wins.

Katy, lol.  i did!   But then, all the money they've made together, i'd kiss him too!

Sometime we'll have to discuss what subs mean when they say "fantasy football"..  it involves a spanking bench, beer n chip service, and penalties for different plays..

I kinda figured that[;)] ! Thanx for the compliment.
No, Katy I missed the Porter-Cowher kiss. < dammit> But I want to thank you for this little tidbit... Next time one of those Steelers or Colts fans < on the other MB >  gets on me about Brady carrying a " man purse ", I will refer them to the
Porter -Cowher lip locking [:D].

KatyLied -> RE: Do Women Really Like Football? (9/13/2006 2:51:04 PM)

It was all Porter kissing on Cowher.
But in the past Cowher kissed "Slash" (Kordell Stewart).  So it's not like he's a stranger to man love.

http://www.post-gazette.net/pg/06251/720136-66.stm

"That's my guy there," Porter said about his rather affectionate greeting for Cowher. "We're close, no matter what you guys say." "That was a great play by him," Cowher said when asked about the smooch from Porter. He paused, then added: "It was better than the last time, when I initiated it. To be honest with you, I'm fine with it."

I am ashamed to say that I fell asleep and missed it.  I had a margarita with dinner, and I guess I'm a cheap (sleepy) drinker.

layne82 -> RE: Do Women Really Like Football? (9/13/2006 3:22:14 PM)

Ok i have yet to post on the message board, but this is a thread i HAVE to.   LOVE football!  Die hard Steelers fan since i was 12.  Go to a couple games a year.

socalbbwsub -> RE: Do Women Really Like Football? (9/13/2006 3:52:20 PM)

Mavis,

Thank you so much for the explanation.  I kinda get it.  I guess it doesnt really matter anyway, there's no team in southern cali for me to cheer for.  Theres the Raiders, but they got their booties spanked the other day. boo hoo hoo!

owneddesire -> RE: Do Women Really Like Football? (9/13/2006 4:40:19 PM)

I guess the only time I have any sudden urge to watch football is when they have the half time show....Like when Janet Jackson reviled herself

KatyLied -> RE: Do Women Really Like Football? (9/13/2006 5:16:31 PM)

Layne - hugs to you.  The Steeler Nation lives.

Daddysredhead -> RE: Do Women Really Like Football? (9/13/2006 6:51:59 PM)

I love the Steelers, too...  They are Daddy's home team.  I used to be a Green Bay fan, and still like them okay.  But I went to my first game and saw the Steelers play and now I am hooked.

I miss Jerome Bettis...  sexy isn't even the word...  (fans self)

But of course women can love football...  the tight pants, the ripped muscles, and broad shoulders, the big arms, the caveman strength...  oh my goodness!!!  The fact that guys and I can talk about the game is just an afterthought.  [;)]

MistressWolfen -> RE: Do Women Really Like Football? (9/13/2006 6:59:05 PM)

I love football...ooo hang on all ya all talking American football...never mind...I like rugger too (and play it)

layne82 -> RE: Do Women Really Like Football? (9/13/2006 7:45:37 PM)

TemptingNviceSub -> RE: Do Women Really Like Football? (9/13/2006 8:15:42 PM)

I've never understood the women who feel threatened by men watching football enough to have a fight with him about it.   M

Not only do I know a bunch of women who genuinely like the game - But I also know a select few who can differentiate between a 3 / 4 and 4 / 3 - Hell.... I even know one or two who can decipher when the free safety is out of position and gonna get beat in zone coverage LMAO!! [;)]

As long as it's Notre Dame, i'm in!   I used to also watch The Bears, back in the 80's, when they were a Team.  When i lived up in Michigan, i crossed the border into Indiana and went to many Notre Dame games in South Bend.....lived for them.  I hope one day to get back to one.
