I hope this post isn't to repetative but as I wrote this for a journal entry it made me wonder about other's journeys and what experiences others have had.  What are some of the epiphanies and growths  Y/you had in  exploring this lifestyle that we lead? For the good and bad since those two things do go hand in hand wether we like it or not.

No journey that is worth its salt is about just getting from point A to point B it is about what is in.between. I am a very non-linear person so I'm usually excited if I do find point B!  What is in between has made me take a closer look at myself and made me glad I brought my proverbial back pack and towel along(the towel is a Hitchikers Guide reference *s*)   This one is not about the ending but what I am finding in between for the good and the bad... hikes up the straps on her pack, wraps her towel around her shoulders.. Well onward and upward!!!!

Thanks to all who share.

The most obvious is that time and experience solve pretty much any issue that will be relevant in one's lifetime.

The world does NOT end if I'm not perfect (though it probably should).

I am usually smarter than most people, but I still suck at geography.

Just because someone is into bdsm doesn't mean you have anything at all in common.

Hardly anyone will ever actually take advice, even if they ask for it.

Try not to lose track of the epiphanies, but have those growths looked at.

My favorite saying regarding "journeys" is :

"If you what to know what lies on the road ahead, ask those coming back".

My grams used to tell me, "Your gonna screw up kid, sometimes big but if you learn from it its not a mistake its a life lesson."

I will be the first to admit I am far from perfect and when I screw up it is typically big but when I do I tell myself that and I try to learn something from my mistake and take it a lesson. Classrooms are not the only place we become educated or discover the world or ourselves.

Thank you for the replies.

When we stop learning we stop growing.I took many baby steps before I actually  saw a public play party.  And that was an epiphany in itself. This was real!! wow  no shutting the doors on this now *s*  As I can almost hear the veins popping out of my husbands forehead as I describe the experience over the phone ( He was on an oil rig at the time)   as he wondered what mischief I was getting into now.

Even something as simple as  finally 'getting' the diffrence between bottoming and submitting . I got that not all bottoms are masochist and vice versa but  because of the level of trust and respect I have for my Top the two were pretty synonmous even tho we in no way have a formal D/s relationship.   It wasn't until I bottomed to someone else that I figured it out in technicolor. Unfortunatly that opened a whole new line of questions..... I identified as submissive, but am I really?   am I 'just' a bottom would that make me any less in the eyes of those I care about? Of course it didn't but that was my own insecurity and I still haven't got an answer to the sub/bottom question.  Titles are shoe boxes in many ways we all have them one way or another ( wife, sister, brother, husband, master, slave, boss, employee) they are there  so  I'm just using the broad spectrum of the definitions...
