Aneirin -> New Pornography thought crime laws (9/13/2006 2:46:51 PM)

After just reading the Backlash article about the proposed new anti violent pornography laws at;

http://www.backlash -uk.org.uk/

It made me wonder about other lifestyles here in the uk and their possible effect on crime.One lifestyle that came to mind is the battle re-enactor scene,here we have thousands of individuals who are not only able to effectively use steel weapons,but make them.Maybe these persons,some of which change their names to fit in with their time period and live as near a lifestyle as they can are possibly potential killers too as those that view 'violent' pornography and engage in consensual BDSM practices.We know the gun laws and knife laws did nothing to stop violent weapon related crimes,it is hardly likely this new law will either.All these laws do is curtail activities of law a biding people,the criminals do what they do as criminals do.I just can't help thinking of the film 'Minority Report' with these new laws.

You have to copy and paste the link into your borwser to get rid of the inadvertent space to make the link work.

I think this form of justice is wrong.   It is like the laws that were enacted in some states that found some consential sex acts in the privacy of the bedroom of married people illegal and have actually prosecuted people for those acts.   I wonder Is big brother at work in the UK as I belive it is here in the US?

Yes the law is wrong and only serves to criminalise people who would not otherwise be criminals.Much thought here is it is yet another easy bust for the law,much like speeding motorists,gets their crime figures up without having to concentrate on the real criminals.

I will try again; http://www.backlash-uk.org.uk/

The thought is what would the Americans do when this law comes about in their country,what with their record on fighting for what they believe in.

I see by the helm on your photograph you too are involved with the battle re-enactment,I was,and may be again,but memory reminds me of some seriously scary and unhinged individuals involved and gives me thought for possible disaster should they be pushed too far.

I do some re-enacting.   When fighting with steel I use blunted blades.   Last fight I had was with my son who got me good on the right hand because I missed the block of his blow.   Fortunately no bones were broken nor was the skin broken.

I also use black powder weapons.   I use super sized tampons cut in half as the bullet.  Creates a huge cotton mess, but is pretty harmless.   LOL   I renact mountain man events (circa 1830 - American West).

This is what you get when you vote into power social work politicians like Blair. Thought crimes and unnecessary wars.

All a little Orwellian isn't it?

Yes it hurts when you catch a blow,I have had broken fingers before,thankfully a dull re-enactor blade but it still hurt through maille armoured gloves,and I have cleaved a shield with a three foot long celtic blade,enough to kill if you did not know what you were doing!I did iron age celtic warfare and living history including building a round house and living in it with the bugs as part of a museum exhibit.

Well my conscience is clear,just can't wait till he is gone,but what perils is he going to put our country into in the meantime.Will he go or will he be pushed.
