Totally. I do off the wall things just because I can. Bizarre example: slave gets to eat only one food during the entire day (including if we go out somewhere.) It's awfully entertaining when he's trying to explain why he needs hot water for eating his instant oatmeal to the server when we're dining with friends at the japanese restaurant! Does it serve a purpose? I think so. It keeps him wondering. It leaves him forever unable to anticipate what I might do next!

This post got me thinking about it. There is a rather important lesson which MsPandora is teaching him. This is the ability to be adaptive to and work through complex and changing situations.
Too many people, in my opinion, become hidebound and unable to function effectively when situation X becomes slightly (or greatly) different the next time they are confronted by it and attempt to use yesterdays behaviors for todays situations.
There is a quote which I believe comes from 12-Step Programs, wherein it is stated that "to a hammer, everything looks like a nail." This sort of bludgeoning insistence on refusing to modify one's own behavior to fit changing realities thwarts positive growth.
Kudos to you, MsPandora.
Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.
