Hizbullah committed serious violations of international humanitarian law, amounting to war crimes, in its deliberate targeting of Israeli civilians during the recent conflict, according to a briefing published today by Amnesty International.

Combined with the organisation's earlier publication on Israel's targeting of Lebanese civilian infrastructure, the latest findings make clear the urgent need for the UN to establish a full and impartial investigation into violations committed by both sides in the conflict.

During the month-long conflict, Hizbullah fired nearly 4,000 rockets into northern Israel, killing 43 civilians, seriously injuring 33 others and forcing hundreds of thousands of civilians to take refuge in shelters or flee. Around a quarter of all rockets were fired directly into urban areas, including rockets packed with thousands of metal ball bearings.

Brussels, 14 September 2006) As it presents a report documenting Hizbullah’s attacks in Northern Israel, Amnesty International appeals once again to EU Foreign Ministers to call for a comprehensive, independent and impartial inquiry into violations of international humanitarian law by both sides in the conflict.

Amnesty International regrets that the August resolution of the UN Human Rights Council to set up an inquiry only focused on Israel and did not address the violations by Hizbullah.

I don't know who you are specifically referring to Ken, but most people maintain that both sides of the problem are just that... a huge problem.  The issue which you might be addressing is that some people do not buy into the American policy of giving Israel free reign and freedom from accountability.... we are also usually people who do not believe even our own country has that right.

I was being facious (sp) but I have heard people in the forums say things to that effect.   I have always known that it was a 2 sided streak.   In any conflict it has always been that way, whether intended or not.

      But that isn't how 'most people' see it Puella.  People who look at the attitudes behind the actions see only one side dancing in the streets and passing out candy when civilians get blown apart.  Only one side is calling for the eradication of the other.  Only one side uses retarded teenagers as weapons.  Only one side shoots from behind their own civilians and seem to find them more useful dead, or least living in misery.

Rich, you need to do a bit of homework and stop watching so much Fox news.  I certainly am not going to do your legwork for you, but all the information you need, if you were interested in a balanced perspective is out there for the taking.

      Hehehehe... Nice try.  I haven't come to my opinions based on what various news editors decide to broadcast this week.  There was a time when I supported the Palestinian cause and would even argue that you fight with whatever you have.  No more.  One side has chosen war over peace.  If it must be war, then I will support Israel.

Only problem with your whole speiel Rich is I think most of "us" think it is precisely a two sided problem.  I can on Israel to fix it because they have the power but not becaue they are the cause of the problem.

So until you can read others posts and not hear whatever it is you want to hear, your opinions of how others do/say things are suspect.

   It's kind of hard to bury the hatchet when one side keeps trying kill the other with it, Crappy.  Peace was on the table and the Palestinians walked away.  As far as I'm concerned, that was it.

    How do you negotiate with someone who won't acknowledge your right to keep breathing?

70 resolutions against the only Jewish state in the world, when you have how many muslim countries doing the voting.

Surely you are not implying that the 'Muslim' countries (the ones which are allowed to participate in the UN, that is, not all of them are) control the United Nations?  That is laughable.

Not control but they have the votes to pass an awfull lot of condemnation resolutions. Certainly they don't control the whole thing but they have their own little "good old boys" network going on at the UN in the General Assembly.

Actually, I still suspect that the Hizbullah were stimulated to attack Israël to draw away attention from Iraq and to stop Hizbullah fighters from entering Iraq to fight against the occupying American armies of Satan.

Certainly you cannot be saying that Isreal when compared to all the rest of the world merits all that attention while so many nations get no resolutions while commiting the same type and number of attrocities.

Quite. I agree. Whenever there is victory, usually peace takes root immediately - unless the conquered people are exterminated.
