What caitlyn said!!!!!

philosophy -> RE: Our great nation is facing an epidemic (9/17/2006 7:27:55 AM)

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which It stands, One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all"

...define 'all'........because if you want to make a definition that deviates from anything except 'everyone'...or tries to insert some clause saying 'all, as long as they're american'...then you're the traitor to the aforementioned lofty ideals.

LadyEllen -> RE: Our great nation is facing an epidemic (9/17/2006 7:38:02 AM)

MC really said it all. Its a tradegy that the US dont have Brits running their foreign policy - we've "been there and done that" for centuries, filled concentration camps, exploited and colonised all over the world, fought uneven wars for dubious motives and caused untold suffering for our own benefit - something I would define as evil. The result of our imperial policies was distrust and hatred and the end of our empire. (and we were pretty good by the standards of other European powers). We spent the last fifty years repairing our reputation, and then suddenly we find ourselves playing the same games again, but for someone else's benefit. Sadly, assisting in evil does not make this good, and repeating the same mistakes does not make us wise.

Of course the current situation requires us to meet fire with fire. But the west is not an innocent party in all of this. If one torments a dog long enough, eventually it will turn and bite. To then blame the dog is patently absurd.

And people wonder why I foam at the mouth about Bush, it is because he is from this very same group as our brown shirted friend here...

quote:

Our great nation, the United States of America, has for the past 230 years stood for freedom and democracy around the world.  For those 230 years we have not cared what the rest of the world thought about our defense of the those ideals which we hold dear. Yet now we have a disease in this country that is causing people to try and change that. The disease is called Liberal politics. The symptoms are very severe. They cause the affected individual to always blame the United States of America for every problem in the world.

Uh, it isn't "liberal" that is pissing the entire world off by abandoning civilized behavior and morals, it is your dear leader.

quote:

These people will go to military funerals and infront of grieving parents, spouses, and children, will protest this war. but they dont stop there, many have been known to say things like: "Your son is going to hell" "thank god your son is dead" and many more things along those lines.

Liberals have many faults, but they don't tend to use god to bludgeon people, thats your ilks favorite tactic and this little tidbit is bullshit anyway.

quote:

These people are incapable of seeing the evil of our enemies. If a terrorist blows up a school bus, it's our fault for forcing them to do it. If they behead an American Journalist on international TV, it's our fault for forcing them to do it.

There is a vast difference between understanding the motivations of your enemy and blaming yourself.  Of course understanding subtlety isn't the right wings best trait.

quote:

And why is it wrong to use whatever means necessary to break those who we capture?

Glad to see you are at least honest that you worship evil, recognizing it is the first step in a cure.

quote:

These sick individuals will blame the Government for all the American deaths, and at the same time blast the government for taking measure to save lives.

Actually, what we are pissed at is they have done everything in their power to make America less safe, everything they could do to make our soldiers less safe, every measure they have taken has either been innefective, counterproductive, or outright reckless.

Oh, and it was liberals who accurately predicted everything that has gone on in the ME related to Bush's idiotic fiasco in Iraq and you right wing nutjobs have gotten it so wrong even your hindsight is half blind.

i feel that our safety from terrorists has not improved. Nothing has improved.

Let's compare bush's terrorist record compared to clinton's.

Bush- 1 attack
Clinton- WTC bombing(93), Khobar Towers Bombing, USS COLE bombing, Embassy bombing, + more
All of these went without any serious retaliation, which only caused more to happen.
Clinton also refused to accept Bin Laden when the Saudis offered to turn him over to us.
Bush at least has them on the run.

Cleese kept a perfectly composed, dignified look while doing the funny walk. I have a feeling that RepublicanBDSM has the same look. You have to admit that it adds to the hilarity.

CrappyDom -> RE: Our great nation is facing an epidemic (9/17/2006 9:49:03 AM)

Are you really this fucking stupid or is this an act?

You list all the foreign attacks against clinton, we have endured 3 years of constant ones under Bush.

Oh, and if you are going to repeat falsehoods, at least use the correct lie.  It was the Sudanese who the right loves to imagine "offered" up Osama.  Its  a lie but at least get the fucking lie right.

I will remind you that it was the Saudis who attacked us on 9/11, you know, the guys that Bush holds hands with in public and who's cocks he sucks in private?

Are you from the "Clinton is a liberal " crowd?....too damn funny

EnglishDomNW -> RE: Our great nation is facing an epidemic (9/17/2006 10:41:08 AM)

You might want to read this, RepublicanBDSM.

"Clinton was thwarted by the reactionary conservative majority in virtually every attempt he made to pass legislation that would attack al Qaeda and terrorism. His 1996 omnibus terror bill, which included many of the anti-terror measures we now take for granted after September 11, was withered almost to the point of uselessness by attacks from the right; Jesse Helms and Trent Lott were openly dismissive of the threats Clinton spoke of.

Clinton wanted to attack the financial underpinnings of the al-Qaeda network by banning American companies and individuals from dealing with foreign banks and financial institutions that al Qaeda was using for its money-laundering operations. Texas Senator Phil Gramm, chairman of the Banking Committee, killed Clinton's bill on this matter and called it "totalitarian." In fact, he was compelled to kill the bill because his most devoted patrons, the Enron Corporation and its criminal executives in Houston, were using those same terrorist financial networks to launder their own dirty money and rip off the Enron stockholders.

Just before departing office, Clinton managed to make a deal with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development to have some twenty nations close tax havens used by al Qaeda. His term ended before the deal was sealed, and the incoming Bush administration acted immediately to destroy the agreement."

Your source stole from the one I posted, which is the original source.

You can avoid problems like this by simply taking the trouble to state where you get the things you quote.

EnglishDomNW -> RE: Our great nation is facing an epidemic (9/17/2006 2:51:56 PM)

That would involve caring and I'm afraid I can't pretend I do. Besides, you asked me to quote my source, not yours.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Our great nation is facing an epidemic (9/17/2006 7:32:13 PM)

You're advising someone to read two long paragraphs that you found on the internet and you don't even care where they came from?  If YOU don't care, why should anyone else?

When aggression and defensiveness overtake rationality, you need to take a step back and listen to what you're saying.

CrappyDom -> RE: Our great nation is facing an epidemic (9/17/2006 7:45:50 PM)

L&M,

Don't you love people who spend so much time finding things and posting them and when you call them on this or that they say "oh I don't care about anything"...give me a giant fucking break.

Caitlyn is famous for that sort of weasly crap.

I care and that is why I am so frigging pissed.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Our great nation is facing an epidemic (9/17/2006 7:49:20 PM)

They're usually just pissed off that you pointed out an error, and instead of acknowledging it (or, God forbid, thanking you), they go right into this arrogant and blase "I don't give a fuck" attitude.  It's a form of psychological self-defense.

Let me demonstrate something to you Lordandmaster

<----- Over here we have people who don't care and are casually flicking pieces of paper at their cat

-------> Over here we have people paying attention to you and nodding in agreement

Guess which side I'm on?

michaelGA2 -> RE: Our great nation is facing an epidemic (9/17/2006 8:56:07 PM)

there's another disease in this country....it's called blindness...those who blindly elect the rich for the betterment of our society...screw the rich...lets put in some poor people and let them have an equal chance and changing this country...better healthcare would be a wondeful start.
