It was a vampire story with this lady who was turned into a vampire a few centuries* think* before the civial war, and her vampire maker is killed and this other vampire wants her and she's not interested in him so he kills her human lo ver Her name is magdalena, and her family used to live in plantations when they were popular in the time era, and the other vampire who killed maggie's lo ver, was jack the ripper.

Not to hijack the thread, but I didn't care much for Drake... I liked Maggie Shayne's vampires a lot better!  There's a new one coming out soon too :)

I've written the beginning of a vampire story many times. It is a very very old vampire.....bored of his eternity in this recycling world. Every day is a rerun in different fashions.
I can't write it all out, because it depresses me too much. You don't have to live long these days to just see it all, over and over again. Sadly, usually the stupid parts.

I'm currently reading Jame's Patterson's "Violets are Blue" sequel to "Roses are Red". "Violets are Blue" is mostly about vampires who are murdering people. Good book.
