As one who was a seeker for far too long, i would have been happy with any polite, honest response, period. i've received only silence too many times in the past. The problem is with those that have been rebuffed and are not civilised enough to leave it at that. If they are persistent, then after one rejection of any flavor, silence from You. Otherwise You're inundated. Kindness is one thing, trying to look after everyone who contacts You is too much. i think it's better to be Yourself and be honest. Maybe it will make them more focused about who they approach. my Goddess suffers from much the same contact issues that You do.

P.S. Nice ride. i can't wait to get mine out of storage next month.

People usually find honesty great in theory. In practice, its a hit-or-miss proposition.

Whenever I write anyone online, my tack is usually to want the smallest of small things. I figure if I cannot even connect small with a person, I certainly won't connect big with them.

Also, seeking a small connection generally offers something to the email recipient -- which makes the email exchange a potentially win-win situation.

Did you like this movie, read that book, have an opinion on this post, etc.... is a better way to feel someone out and have a productive, rewarding exchange, than to ask or want something greater from them.
