calamitysandra -> Dungeon in Germany? (9/17/2006 2:21:01 PM)

Can somebody suggest/recommend a dungeon in Germany, preferably in NRW for me?

Thanks!

My live in is German, but he isn't from the NRW area, but I asked and he told me the translation for dungeon in German is "Verlies".  Maybe do a google on it.  Also I rememeber MisPandora posted her experience on a trip to Germany back in May or June, which included a trip to a fetish club, but I think it was in Frankfurt. Perhaps she can provide you info. Good luck and have fun.

one would suggest that you post this question on the Ask A Master forum.  one has heard a few talk about having spent time at dungeons in Germany while in the service - now, whether these are true stories or not - one has no way of knowing.  But it might be worth a try................

I will do that. Thanks a bunch.

Guten Tag!

I can't really help you with Nordrhein-Westfalen as far as dungeons are concerned.  I know of a custom leathermaker in Munchen, but that's it as far as knowing someone RT in your State.

However, I took liberty to do a little digging, and Modern Creation is the oldest SM dungeon in Dusseldorf.  They do rent.....http://www.modernecreation.de

I can, however, highly recommend Grande Opera in Offenbach am Main (outside of Frankfurt), im Hesse.  Their site is in German: http://grande-opera.ath.cx/front_content.php  The photos are ALL real and verified to be the actual location.  It's more gorgeous than in the photos.  I strongly suggest going there with someone who speaks German.  Folks will speak english enough for you to order a drink or food, but that's about it!  I was fortunate enough to have a gracious host-slave with me at all times when I went here and to Club 24-7 (not as interesting in my experience.)   Jean Christophe is one of the owners of the club and was extremely hospitable to me during my visit.  Please do tell him that I sent you if you make a trip there!

I've also come across Salon Avalon's Residenz, which looks sehr interessant.... http://www.avalon-residenz.de.  They appear to be located in Berlin.  Touch Club is in Hamburg, and that appears to be an SM nightclub of some sorts.  I have no real knowledge of this establishment.

One thing to be prepared for -- if you are unfamiliar with the european way of BDSM.....do not be shocked to find a fully stocked bar and liquor service in the SM clubs.  Europeans were raised around liquor and it's not a taboo to them. Most are sensible and respectful, and drink in moderation.

Good luck!

Thank you very much for your help. These are very good starting points all.
And yes, being german I think I will not have any language barriers [:)]

Dear calamitysandra,

Not to take the thread off course per se; I'm sure visitors to Germany would indeed grasp at the opportunity to meet up with other like minded individuals.

I found the Medieval Crime Museum in Rothenburg, Germany; the Medieval Dungeons in Nuremberg and my favorite, Restraints Museum in Linz, Germany were most educational but, nobody can 'play' in them [Grins]  But, the Restraints Museum or Museum Burg Linz is BDSM friendly.  Having a translator is wonderful indeed, for those who cannot speak the many styles of German.

Another good educational museum, is the Museum of Medieval Criminology in San Gimignano, Italy.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

Thanks for those tips, Lady Hugs, I will surely have a look at some of those over the next time.
And yes, understanding people with a heavy dialect can be though, even if you know the language.
