[:-] 2 questions. When giving out information over the phone where do you draw the line?  How much information do you expect the other person to give you?

I do not "expect" someone to give me any information, by the same token I am not going to meet them unless they do.

Generally I have met local people for coffee with names and cellphone numbers. having coffee is not dangerous. I had safecalls. I never scened with these people or was alone with them


My Daddy gave me his landline by calling mine a couple of days before we met for breakfast (he drove over 5 hours to meet me). The name that came up on caller ID was the name he had given me. He gave me everything short of a bank account number and a SS number before we were alone together and had me call the information to both of my safecalls, one of which is in another state.

I make sure he's willing to give out as much information as he expects to receive from me.  And then I make sure it checks out, like the caller ID matching the given name.
