midnyt -> concern about subspace (9/18/2006 2:30:57 PM)

Good evening everyone,
i have a quistion to ask and please if you have a rude comment please dont bother replying. i have a concern about subspace. sometimes when Master and i session it is so intense and i go into subspace well lately i have gone so deep i have memory loss of part of the session. i still respond to him but afterwards when i go to write in my journal a certian part is just gone. i remember the beggining and the end but for about 20 minutes is gone.  Is this normal or is this more of an altered state?  im not happy that this is happening. Has this happend to anyone else? btw we dont drink or do drugs during session so this is not induced by chemicals.   Thank you all in advanse.

Relax it happens, I have on occassion had that happen as well as had halucinations. In the past when I could not remember what happened to send me over that far I have asked my dominant, what it was they were doing and how I reacted and what thier preceptions of it were. It did unnerve me but when a pattern was found they would back off a wee bit and I would not have the memory loss.

Hi midnyt,

I have had this problem, although, not extensively. For the most part, the problem has fixed itself...I wish I had a better answer for you. It still happens on occassion, but now Daddy knows to be looking for it...He is able to change the pace of the scene or require an unexpected response. I don't know if this suits, but it hasn't happened in quite some time even though my forays into subspace haven't been any less intense.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 2:50:31 PM)

Well I've only ever hit subspace twice, once seriously hard and once only midly, so I can't really say, but I have a hard time normally in or out of subspace recalling every event or detail, so maybe the subspace can cause memory blocks.

ownedgirlie -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 2:53:55 PM)

It happens to me quite often.  I am in good hands with him so it is not a concern for me.  It's just part of the ride :)

crouchingtigress -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 3:20:03 PM)

you are in a very receptive state, you might try having him work a word into the scene that when he uses it you are to become instant and hyperly aware of your surroundings, he can even play with this and have you become accutly aware of your heartbeat and or your breathing...we are such incredible creatures, in your altered state you really are quite limitless, and with a friend to help you you can go any where you want ....as long as you have a driver and a map.[;)]

SweetSarijane -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 3:24:39 PM)

I lose memory of parts of what happened when I hit subspace as well. Recall is hazy with certain things very clear and some things faint and dream like. I float for hours after I've gone deep enough to have hit subspace. It's hard to come down and start thinking clearly and process what's around me.

mixielicous -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 3:27:16 PM)

i have also had memory loss and hallucenations [from SS alone, no drugs] it kind of bothered me the first time, but not so much anymore, as owned girlie kinda said, i really trust the Man i am with and i let it go.

Now the orgasms that made me cry b/c they were so powerful.emotional/confusing, now THOSE worry me ;)

diamonddreamlove -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 3:28:29 PM)

I have had some memory loss almost every time i have played with a certain Dom.  We always discuss what has gone on afterwards and He fills in the blanks for me.  He is well versed in First Aid/CPR and safety issues so i do not worry that anything bad will happen to me without His knowing and being able to care for me.   It is important i think that the Doms and subs for that matter have good skills for First Aid/CPR.  Not long ago i was at a play party when a slave friend had a mild stroke and had there not been enough folks with good skills and ability to identify what was happening she could have easily died.  Of course the EMS and First Responders enjoyed the sites too and had to occassionally be reminded that the patient was on the floor not attached to the cross or lol other items in the dungeon.

Subspace IS an altered state.

Yup, it happens to me quite regularly.  I expect it when I go into subspace.

ScooterTrash -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 4:15:15 PM)

Sounds normal to me....if I had a scene and they didn't "zoneout", I would think I was losing my touch.

midnyt -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 4:26:10 PM)

thank you so much all for replying. this has really helped me to understand and for myself to know that this is normal. im not worried about Master not taking care of me. my only concern is that when i go to write in my journal i cant recal the events. that and i love to play and then i cant remember a crucial part, this is what troubles me.  i really do appreciate all your responses. thank you so much.

ChainedExistence -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 4:28:22 PM)

I often get fuzzy on the details..and I can lose a sense of how much time has passed, but it's never really worried me. I see that others have reported similar experiences, so I wouldn't be too concerned over it. As long as you are in good hands with someone that can let you come down pleasantly and is there to support you after the fact, I don't think you should mind it so much. There has been much written about subspace, and LA has provided enough links to keep you busy for days, but for an abbreviated response...yes, it's normal, yes, others have felt it, and yes, it is a sort of altered state. As great an experience as it is , I wouldn't worry too much over whether you space or not, or how you space if you do. Enjoy the entire experience and all it entails.

twicehappy -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 5:34:33 PM)

I too have this problem but we really do not think of it as an issue. Often Scooter will say he said something or did something and i give him a blank stare. He just laughs and says" i guess you do not remember that".

cravespleasure -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 6:17:50 PM)

just remember .. this IS a chemically altered state. Natural in your brain chemicals, but that's why it can seem so different.

ayasha -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 7:45:50 PM)

smiles, it is quite normal - don't worry about it - just enjoy the experience to its fullest, and if you don't remember everything - just say 'wow, i must have had a really good time'!

Mavis -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 8:27:01 PM)

Wow, it was good to revisit that topic, thanks for the linkage LA.   Mine was the post about inaccurate memory..  and since Master is making visit in two days,  W/we're still working on ensuring i don't start whining about what i missed before going thru debrief.  lol.

Actually, the advice offered last time helped a lot, talking about the scene toggles memory and brings me back to the thankful little me that is so happy to be in such good hands.   midnyt,  you might have to dink with what is the best time for Y/you to discuss it to refresh your memory. For me personally, i found waiting too long makes it harder.  Once and hour or so after, then a more indepth convo the next day, and then once again after the 30-some hours of chemical drop seems to be a good pattern for me.   your milage may vary.   Good luck!

Owned1 -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 9:22:22 PM)

It happens to me each and everytime Master scenes me,  it is a total release of the "real" world, I am his and belong to him completly and totaly at that time.  The length of time I have no memory varies as to how long the scene is, how deep I go and how long Master permits me to stay there.

Stop over thinking,  do some research if it will help you enjoy.  Over all enjoy the ride its a blast!!!!

masterofurnight -> RE: concern about subspace (9/18/2006 9:40:00 PM)

It is funny that this would come up. When I put a submissive into subspace for the first time she went flying. I noticed the change in response to what I was doing to her. She didn't respond and that caused me to stop everything. She didn't notice when I took the restraints off. She didn't notice when I took her in my arms. I started calling her name and checking her breathing, heart rate etc....Finally she came down and said she didn't hear anything or remember how she got unrestrained. She did tell me that she was fine and that she was just in some other place and that it was wonderful and when was the next time she could go. Was a very interesting first experiance for me.

AnAtlantaDom -> RE: concern about subspace (9/19/2006 7:03:39 AM)

Midnyt

Basicly it appears you are entering an hypnotic state to some degree.  It will be worth your Dom's effort to learn more about it.
