subsa -> party advice for newbies...just do it! (9/18/2006 3:14:54 PM)

this week-end Master and i attended our first play party (actually it was a camp-out).  you know how most of the time us newbies are told to get involved and go to the local scene parties?  well, it's probably the best piece of advice you can get.  i was really nervous to go; i almost backed out at the last minute.  but once i got there it was just as natural as breathing.  everyone was so open and accepting.  most made a point to come over and introduce themselves.  i've been reading for months (both books and on line) but reading is nothing like interactive learning.  that's not to say that i actually participated in anything very edgy.  i did play oiled twister and wrestling...we did some mild spanking, clip play etc.... but that seemed to be okay with everyone; there was no pressure to perform.  i was afraid that there would be an unspoken sentiment that observing only would be akin to being a gawky tourist. but i didn't feel that way at all.   Master and i had agreed that we would mostly observe for our first time ( that was to follow the second piece of advice us newbies get: go slow).  for someone else maybe that would be going too slow but for me it was good.

there were some really good, impromtu demos (electrical play, single tail etc..)  and everyone was very approachable and willing to answer questions.  i was surprised how some things that (from reading) i thought would be uncomfortable for me to watch, much less participate in, were actually very stimulating.

so, to all the newbies out there, from a newbie...just do it!  i'm sure you won't  regret it.

Yes sometimes just doing is much better than the omg i can't do that drudgery that happens when one is afraid.

i couldn't agree with you more!!![:)] i have lived as a sub, a bottom and a pro & lifestyle Domme (all waiting for the right one to give myself to completely) and now I am the One's slave....in all my experience i had never gone to a public play party...quite a few prvate play parties with friends when i was a Domme but never publicly and never as a slave or sub (that was always done very privately) sooooo....

i finally went with my Daddy/master to a public play party. As frightened as i was and as much as i begged him to not make me play or get naked in front of ppl the first time, i ended up naked and comfortable before the night was through.

i am very shy usually, especially when i am out with my Daddy's friends etc and at the play party it was the first time that that shyness wasn't painful for me...it was as comfy as my own skin. Everyone was so nice and then Daddy got me afixed to the cross. i was totally amazed that i was able to block everyone out and just be in the moment.

That campout you went to sounds like so much fun.

Getting involved in the local community has been a goal of mine for some time.  However, every community I've found in my state is strictly 21 and over, so I haven't been able to get into any of them.  But I'm sure in three years I'll be somewhere at a local play party.

Good to hear positive experiences.  Maybe because of you more will get out and enjoy the local scene.

But how do you go about finding the parties?

On Collarme, the best way is just to email the people already in your local area and ask.  You can also do a yahoo group or google search for clubs.  Go to your local sex toy store as they often have fliers and cards of the local groups.
