FangsNfeet -> Menopausal Mothers with 357 mags (9/19/2006 3:46:12 AM)

Around two weeks ago my mom called to tell me that she's begun menopause. I gave her a call the other day to see how her hormone therapy was going. Instead of telling me about her medications she went on about how thrilled she was to own a 357 mag. A 357 mag in the hands of my mom? Up till now I've never even seen her shoot a water gun. Next visit, she wants to attend the shooting range with me. Should I be afraid? Exactly what is going on here?

A 357 mag in the hands of a woman who is going through menopause, yep, I would be afraid, very afraid!

......i thought this thread was going to feature an obsession with glossy magazines of the 'Hello' variety..........

I would be more than afraid.  My experience with gun toting women in the army is that they are deadly.  I would even consider hiding her ammunition and replacing what is in the chamber with blanks.  That way it at least looks like it is loaded.    LOL

Make sure she knows how to handle it and which end the round comes out of.     I taught my grandkids how to shoot and I always began with "this kills" and have kept repeating it ever since.  Also get her a good lockbox for the mag.  that slows her down and gives her time to cool off.

LOL   Good Luck    LOL

Maybe you should buy your mom the tee shirt that says

" I am in menopause and own a handgun".

It is similar to the one that says

" i have PMS and a handgun, any questions?

Just consider them early warning devices for men who should know better........

least you can safe lock a gun, or take out the ammo, my mom is getting close to that age but she dosent like guns...she likes knives.

Consider yourself lucky.

you have a huge problem there.

When she comes, take her to the range and make sure she's accurate. Then, tell her to carry twinkies in her gun case, too. If she does shoot someone, at least they'll die quickly. Then, she can eat the twinkies while waiting for the cops and plead insanity.

Ok, now, seriously...If you want to know why she now has a gun, simply ask her...and take her to the range. You're assuming that JUST because the woman is in hormone therapy that she can't handle herself. Perhaps she's always wanted one, but has never pursued it.

Some perverts, even worse than us, 'like' the post menoapausal women, as stalking targets.  Remember, "No one ever raped a .38" (or a .357)

Be very afraid if she has written your name on the bullet.

Good for Mom! Take her and teach her everything, it sounds like she is not only menopausal but opening up to new experiences. Guns are alot of fun as long as they are handled properly. So go have fun[:)]
