September 20 2006: 4:13 PM EDT SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) -- California sued six of the world's largest automakers over global warming Wednesday, charging that greenhouse gases from their vehicles have caused billions of dollars in damages..... ----------------------------- It may be from inhaling those warm ocean breezes? It seems as if California has attempted to set a precedent and go after automakers for global warming and it's negative affects in the state of California. Apparently California has forgot that for scores of years they have received tax revenues on automobile sales, annual automobile registration fees, automobile traffic citations and fines... and that they use automobiles also (ie. police cars, SUV's, motorcycles, 4x4's, etc). Who will be the first group of Californians filing a class action lawsuit of complicity against California for the state's long term support and accomplice role in the dastardly acts of global warming which California has now sued the automakers for? This might just turn out to be a great time to be a fleabag lawyer in California.

Not to mention the home of "drive-thru" everything!! And yet another feather in the cap of stupidity for that state.... I still say it should just seceed from the union... at least that way they could apply for foreign aid. I am sooooo glad I left that place. *Jewel*

Brought to you by the state where everyone sues everyone else for everything (TH googled the frivolous Cali lawsuits but it would have filled a page trying to post links). Gezzz, next thing you know they will have actors running for office...lol. If there is any justice, the settlement will be that all the car owners in Cali receive a horse in trade for their car. Problem solved....and then they can clean up a new kind of emission.

Quebec has been trying to secede from Canada for years. Of course, they have no industrial base, agricultural base, etc., to support themselves, so it would immediately become a third world country surrounded by an industrial giant. The thing about Californians is they pass sensible laws. One great example is the balanced budget law. Our state government has to balance the state budget every year. We cannot engage in compulsive deficit spending. I am not a big fan of the Governator, but after the sound beating he got in his special election last year he has gone back to being a centrist with a brain in his head. Might want to consider what would happen if California were to secede. Look what happened when PMA locked out the longshore union for 10 days in 2002. The net cost to the entire country was something like 54 billion dollars for just one of our industries. I imagine you people would not enjoy it if we took our industry and food and commerce and went to play in our own sandbox for a change. Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it. Sinergy

The last time I was in Calif was 1990 and it was a P.O.S. then. I can just imagine what it's like now. LOL@ "The Golden State" it's like a ghetto state now with all the "no-speaks". All those car cos have to do is stop shipping cars to Calif for a few weeks. That'll stop the lawsuit.

If the spinach is good enough for the rest of the country, why not political whiners in California where the tainted spinach is grown, and many Californians profit from it? I don't have anything against californians...but that lawsuit is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. Maybe the state should also sue every person who drives a car, or the producers of products in areosol cans, and those who have used them. http://www.pewclimate.org/global-warming-basics/ Quote taken from the above website. Hehehehe. It would really suck if all those carmakers being sued decided they had to get all their assets out of CA. Not that seeing beyond the sound bite of the moment is common here in the Granola state.
