i have seen honey candles compared to beeswax, which you are "not supposed" to use. The honey contains sugar, which gets way hotter than wax. Actually, Beeswax melts at a lower temp that parafin- but it cools slower, which is why it is more likely to burn the skin. Colored candles may cause some issues, as well as scented candles, so anything should be test dripped on yourself, first. Color candles do have the advantage of letting you better see where you are dripping, especailly in low light situations, so they are a good idea to try. For a protective cover for bedding, carpet, et al., I highly recommend a disposible paper table cloth- mine are made by 'Chinet' and are soft paper backed by some sort of plastic, and even come with four little tabs of tape to anchor them. Stay warm, Lawrence
