snide remarks makes me cry!  [:(]

I'm genuinely sorry to hear that Cuddles.  If my approach to some topics and manner of expressing myself is causing you unwanted distress, just scroll down when you see my happy scowl.

     I can't really apologize if I don't plan to stop can I?

That was me being snide....LOL

I don't particularly trust Chavez....with his socialist,UN loving leanings...but as far as intellect goes....he makes dumbya
look like a complete @$$.

Yes, he is so smart that he didn't know that his favorite author, Noam Chomsky, was still alive as he lamented never having met him before he died. Quite a genius. He is basically a thug who has a lot of oil. Otherwise no one would even care who he was.

Thug? Can we have evidence please. He was voted into power in a democratic election. The fact that American oil is in Venezuelan ground wouldn't be happening to colour your vision would it?

"Man, the Democrats are experts at stepping on their own dicks."

....is that because democrats have really big dicks or very short legs?

As an aside, has Chavez done anything against US interests or has he just called America a lot of names?

cuddleheart50 -> RE: Chavez: Democratic Presidential Nominee? (9/22/2006 3:35:19 AM)

big dicks hopefully!  [:D]

peterK50 -> RE: Chavez: Democratic Presidential Nominee? (9/22/2006 6:08:32 AM)

I'm shocked that the leader of a sovreign nation would take exception to US policy. I'm appalled he would use his economic clout to influance opinion. Didn't he get the memo from Tony Blair? "Quiet Hugo,. wear the pretty collar, maybe some of the missing Iraq billions will head your way"

It is pretty amusing how liberals like Nancy Pelosi, and Charlie Rangel are coming down on the terrible things that Hugo Chavez said about the President yesterday. He didn't say anything any worse about President Bush than what they have been saying ever since he was elected. They just got their front runner in the primaries.

As stated,  Stand and deliver,  where are your facts,  bring the statments.  Oh yeah as usual,  you talk about people bringing facts, but you yourself never show up with any.

Your whole post was rubbish and you know it.

Chavez is a clown....why take him seriously? that guy talks out of his ass.....its all BS....he says he is "anti-american" yet like many tin pot dictators like him, cannot make his words into action....he still sells oil to the US and tries to make himself popular in latin america....I feel sorry for Venezuela and Venezuelans that have to put up with his communist BS daily.

peterK50 -> RE: Chavez: Democratic Presidential Nominee? (9/22/2006 10:01:01 AM)

Venezuela is an OPEC member, oil is openly traded. I haven't seen Chavez going door to door pulling a oil drum.

True, but at least if he is so "anti-american" and so "socialist" as he says he is, he could negate to sell his oil to the US, don't you think? I mean Chavez is constantly berating other latin american leaders on how they are "lackeys of US imperialism" and all that bs, when he can't be saying those things as he is a mere "lackey" of US imperialism himself.

peterK50 -> RE: Chavez: Democratic Presidential Nominee? (9/22/2006 10:32:00 AM)

Like Bush calling Communists "evil", must be only those in Cuba & North Korea. China has a trade surplus with the U.S. Is Bush a "lackey" of the Chinese?

My thoughts on this is it's like family, I mean you can call your sister a cunt & even beat up on her, but God help any other fool that tried the same thing...
What pisses Me off is that the U.N. is on our soil so we had to allow him here & pay for his protection for him to Insult us...
What further pisses Me off is that WE the American people haven't DEMANDED that Our Carmakers Bring to fruition on a LARGE scale  Electric cars, cars that run on Hydrogen & the myriad of other fueled cars. Then we wouldn't even have to listen to a mook like chavez or any other oil producing countries dictators...

SubNY278 -> RE: Chavez: Democratic Presidential Nominee? (9/22/2006 4:53:40 PM)

Funny how many Americans dismiss Chavez as communist but have no problem with America's dealings with China.

Funny how many, including the spineless Democrats, took offense at Chavez's insults against Bush, but don't take offense when Bush & co say similar, if not as blunt, things about other countries, or even about each other (mudslinging between dems and reps).

Funny how people get their panties in a wad over Chavez but don't mind that we're good friends with some non-elected leaders, or rather, dictators.  Musharraf in Pakistan is a good example, as well as China's leadership.

As for assessments of Chavez's intelligence, at least to his credit he was refrencing an author which is foreign to him.  Can Bush even name, say, a Latin American writer?  Probably not, but then again, that's no surprise considering his well-known lack of intelligence.  And that's not me "misunderestimating" him (a word Bush once used).

Besides, when Pat Robertson (former Presidential candidate) called for Chavez's death, isn't that even worse than calling Bush the devil?  But who on the right took offense to that?  Or to the American-supported coup that almost overthrew a democratically-elected Chavez?  I thought we're supposed to be spreading democracy, not supressing it!  But then again, someone a bit more jaded than me would say....it's the oil, dummy!

meatcleaver -> RE: Chavez: Democratic Presidential Nominee? (9/23/2006 1:42:29 AM)

Democracy sucks when you don't get the leadership you want. I have to laugh when I hear the right talking about democracy, the whole 'get Clinton' fiasco was really the right attempting a coup.

philosophy -> RE: Chavez: Democratic Presidential Nominee? (9/23/2006 2:16:40 AM)

"I thought we're supposed to be spreading democracy, not supressing it!"

....when many of us criticise American foerign policy it is precisely because of this point that we do. There is a blatantly obvious mismatch between the rhetoric and the actual acts of American foreign policy. Most people outside the US can see this......it seems to me that the saituation inside America is more complex. Some see the hypocrisy, some actually defend it.,.........and most? i think most have been encouraged to simply not care what happens overseas unless it affects Americans.
As for Chavez........he, like gorgeous george galloway, is fun to watch. However Pat Robertson calling for his assasination has not been forgotten....it is things like that which give America its pisspoor reputation with some.

It's either that, or one's decision to base an entire country's reputation on a small group of outspoken fools.

Be well,
Julie

"It's either that, or one's decision to base an entire country's reputation on a small group of outspoken fools"

...when they're the outspoken fools that are representative of the party with most influence over American foreign policy it sort of makes sense to judge the foreign policy in those terms. Are you suggesting that foreigners ought to judge American foreign policy not only on what it is, but on what it might be too?

Judging foreign policy is one thing.  Judging the American people as a whole on the basis of the party in charge is another thing.
