My neighbor just brought over a crockpot full of homemade chili that he made himself. I have to say it is some of the best chili I've ever tasted. I have to praise this man and other men who stay at home while their wives work, dare I use the term "househusband"? Well I will.

This fella is a househusband and he is damn good at his job. He takes care of their 4 kids, does all the housework, all the errands, the cooking, laundry..you name it he does it. Two things make what he does stand out, firstly he LOVES it and secondly he does it VERY well. His house is spotless, he cooks like a chef and his kids are well adjusted.

I am sure he has taken a ribbing from some other guys(maybe gals?) out there who don't find the "househusband" role acceptable. But I don't think he cares, he rides a Harley, he pumps iron and his wife is a very happy woman. In fact he himself stated it had made their marriage better and stronger because they each were doing what made them happy. It works for them so who cares what others think?

So to all the househusbands out there my hat goes off to you, you are indeed appreciated. And now I intend to enjoy a bowl of this chili.

I think it's a matter of being secure enough in who you are to pursue what really makes you happy, even in the face of societal norms. It's not really about him being a househusband, but about him following his bliss. How many of us can say we're that courageous?

Maybe he should start a catering service?

MasterFireMaam, I strongly suspect in keeping with your thinking, ("being secure enough in who you are to pursue what really makes you happy") is and/or should be the mindset in every challenge we face and that meeting challenge may be who and what we actually are all about.
