Cool.. you probably enjoy Lucio Fulci's films as well?  I know I do. Especially ''Zombi''

Oh yeah.  There's a store called "Sarge's Comics" in downtown New London that carries all kinds of dubbed Italian horror movies.  My grandparent, by whom I was raised, used to buy me these weird-ass films like "Suspiria" (beautifully filmed) and "Schizoid" as a kid, and I absolutely fell in love.

For me, horror movies always made me grin. There are scenes in them of course that may make me jump for a moment, but then I turn around and laugh at myself. There was only three movies that I ever saw that truly scared me. The first one was "Fire in the Sky" about a group of fisherman kidnapped by aliens in the middle of the night. That freaked me out as I love being in the woods late at night and my parents loved watching shows about alien abduction when I was a kid.

The second one was a movie I only vaguely recal now entitled C.H.U.D. Cannablistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers. It was about toxic waste I think mutating people who lived underneath a city in their sewers. I watched that when I was a kid and it scared the hell out of me.

The third one was a movie I very barely recall. I dont know the title of it, but it was about a meteor that had crashed to earth and inside it was this alien creature who was killing people. The camera angles were all cinematic from the monsters point of view for the most part complete with horror music. I remember the final scene where the guy was being chased and he hooked himself up to an electric hoist in a warehouse so he was off the ground. The alien couldnt quite reach him and as he was struggling he dropped a jar of acid on its head. Nothing else hurt this creature, but the acid worked.

lol Anyways, those were the three that scared the hell out of me when I was younger.

The only one that truly gave me a series of recurring nightmares, was the original Night of the Living Dead. I dreamed I was in the movie for several nights, and had to eat a friend to show the zombies I wasn't alive. Amazing what one's mind will to survive a horror. The wierd part was I still remember in my dream apologizing to my friend. He broke his ankle and the zombies were coming, it was my only way to escape.
Thanks for rekindling a truly grotesque moment of  fear, anxiety and disgust...awesome!

Ones that come to mind from childhood
*House On The Haunted Hill
*Most of the horrow movies which stared the duo Betty Davis, Joan Crawford
There was this one particular movie that I can't remember the title but contains a song with words one potatoe, two potato three potato etc.

In my teens
*Jaws One
*Also, there was this movie that contained a soundtrack from Tubular Bells, I couldn't watch scary movies for another decade after, but typical for me, I just can't remember the name.  I just remember a character on an elevator and a necklace going through that person's neck.

Later years
*Silence of Lambs (I had nightmares for many days after, it had a lot to do with the visuals and sound effects at the theater as well)
*Elmstreet
*Candy Man (you should see it)
*Alien
*Aliens
*Jurassic Park (I had nightmares for many years after) And it does make a difference seeing it on the big screen as opposed to dvd.

Bloody movies don't do much for me in the way of scaring.  I do like to have my mind played with and to not know what's coming next.

I haven't seen any really great horror/thriller movies in a while..but I always liked any vampire movie, and some of the classics (Baby Jane).

The modern ones that gave me a bit of a chill/hide behind hands/sink face into strong body next to me type of feeling.. were the SAW movies.  Very good.. gore enough to be horror, mind playing enough to be thriller.

I had horrible nightmares weeks after seeing Jaws as a kid and still, to this day, can get overly worked up about sharks in the water, even though I KNOW it's stupid. A few years later, I had nightmares about Salem's Lot and a few years later, about The Shining. These were all seen when I was 12 and under. Now, horror movies don't really have a lasting effect, other than enjoyment of the plot. The Ring and Saw were lots of fun.

Saw was pretty good for the most part, unforutnately, I spent the last half of the movie laughing hysterically to the annoyance of my friends.  I couldn't help it, I just found everything about it so amusing at that plot and especially the acting.  And Saw II was even more fun or should I say more predictable.  Can't wait for III

Oh, and I really enjoyed the Ring, that was scary.

There is a Japanese horror movie called "Audition", that can only be described as disturbing.

Tony Blair on The Parkinson Show when he said God told him to attack Iraq.

When we were hearing this sort of stuff from Bush and his cronies we just looked on bewildered like a day at the Zoo when you're trying to work out what the apes are thinking when they're looking at you and scratching their arses.

When one of our own started claiming God was instructing him to kill people it was an extremely scary piece of horror.

Funnily enough, when I was having my daily chat with God yesterday he asked me to educate caitlyn to understand that Bush and US foreign policy is not everything American.

Oh, you are far from only bitching about President Bush, etc ... you bitch about our healthcare system, immigration laws, guns, violence, I could go on, and on and on ... because you certainly do. There is a group of you here that are like "serial America bitchers."

There is another groups of you on another website I belong to ... Europeans and Canadians that seem to have a never-ending ability to complain about anything and everything, U.S.

The earliest recollection I have were 2 old black & white movies involving Martians.

One was the original "Invaders From Mars" & the other I can't remember or find online, but I do remember a martian hand creeping along w/ long nails and attacking people in their cars from behind them on their necks.  I was really young when I saw these, around 10 or so I guess.

I have always loved scary movies, Silence Of The Lambs, Hannibal & Red Dragon are among my favorites, along w/ Se7en, Halloween, the original Night of the Living Dead (had to walk home from the movies that night) & the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (I lived in TX at the time) & more recently "The Grudge".

Most recently, "The Grudge" frightened Me on a core level. Not sure just why but it did. When I was a kid there was a movie called "Haunting of Hill House" That remains with Me yet today as well as a couple certain episodes of the series "Twilight Zone" (which warped one generation at least I think!).

I've been seeing previews for The Grudge 2, I haven't seen the first one, think I may rent it or viewing with friends for Halloween weekend.

I generally avoid horror movies, but I did let My sister and brother-in-law talk Me into seeing the Exorcist as a teenager.  It was very disturbing and I slept on the sofa with the lights on for a few weeks afterward.

I agree about the grudge.. That movie just messed my head right up. I ahd to sleep with the lights on for a month, because every time I turned em off, one corner would get darker than the rest and I would panic. I actually switched to night shift for a while so that I wouldnt have to sleep in the dark. LOL and being a security guard didn;t help, the stupid generators made the grudge=y noise when they were starting up, and I panicked every time.
