I try to take Friday's off of work or do as little as possible. Friday nights we have movie and family night. It is our special evening of the week.
Anyway, so I decided it was time to trim my rose bushes for the year. Boy, those little suckers hurt when they attach themselves to you. So, as I was scooping them all up getting more and more stuck by the minute. I started to wonder.
How many are into this sort of play? Is it widespread? Or one of those type's of play that everyone hears about yet very few actually participate in?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thorns? Child's play! Try Stinging Nettles!

No first hand experience with either, but saw the results of both. - OUCH!

beth used to have fields of stinging nettles at her place, but too kind and gentle to use them on her.

I enjoy thorns and roses very much. A rose is pleasure with pain all in one. I remember in the Adams Family how Mortisa use to cut the flower off and put the thorns in a vase. However, I perfer it all to stay intact. So yes when I bring a lady a hand full of roses, I intend to use them for just the smell, decoration, and getting the ahhhhh you're so sweet.

During the 80's i worked a job which required the designing and delivering of floral arrangements. Each week there was a delivery of 500 long stemmed roses which i had to prepare by stripping ALL 500 of their thorns. i HATED that part of the job!!! Those friggin things hurt. Should INSIDEYOURMIND ever let the notion of pricking me with those daymn things enter into His mind, i'd hope He would reserve it as punishment ONLY (and then i could at least be greatful for the fact that i RARELY require punishment).

P.S. i HATE roses because of that job. INSIDEYOURMIND is aware of this fact, He sent the most beautiful bouquet of wild flowers, carnations, irises, and lilys to me at work for my birthday.

Thorns and i love Roses, He has planted some in our back yard...yeah, when i trim them, they do hurt a bit. I can honestly say that we never have played with them before, but the idea is interesting.
(eyes the clock and hopes He wakes up soon!!)

I love rose play....the petals so soft and the thorns so rigid. The perfect contrast of pain and pleasure, which some of us seek.

The florist that I use never can understand why I don't want him to strip the thorns. He finally has quit asking. (smile)

Just make sure you've had all your shots, and do a scratch test to make sure you're not allergic. The thin, fibrous outer layer of bark on most rose bushes shreds very easily into minute filaments that will imbed themselves in the skin. This means that scratches from a rose bush can fester. I've heard urban legends about getting tetanus from rose bushes, but I find that doubtful. You can get toxic plasmosis, however.

A lot of this, of course, varies with what sort of roses are being used, how they've been fertilized, and of course where they come from. It is, however, a basic bit of common sense caution - make sure you know your toy before you get too deeply involved ion playing.
