WyrdRich -> Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 7:55:20 AM)

I've heard this from a couple different sources but can't find anything about it online.

Just wondering what people think about this.  Are we going to get hit again?

But yeah, this is the really real one for sure, Dude! You should sell all of your stuff for pennies on the dollar and then start running stark raving mad for the hills. Oh, and don't forget to get right with whatever god you think can help you out of this jam because once things go "nuculear" it will be bad.

Live in Fear!!! Be afraid!!!!11111

WyrdRich -> RE: Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 8:19:16 AM)

Living in fear doesn't really work for me Chain.  Anything I would need during the disruption of a major attack in my area is already in my earthquake kit.

I'm actually thinking more along the lines of what Ahmadinejad was saying at the UN about the coming of the 12th Imam.  If the larger strategy of the Islamic crazy people is to provoke a great war and bring their version of the "End Times," this election season would be a fine time to do it.

Chaingang -> RE: Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 8:24:13 AM)

Ah, so you prefer to spread fear than to partake of it yourself.

I think you should drink your own kool-aid, kool?

KenDckey -> RE: Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 8:31:54 AM)

I don't handle threats well.   If you are gonna threaten me then just go ahead and take action.   The politics of fear annoy me to no end and strengthen my resolve.

WyrdRich -> RE: Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 8:40:20 AM)

Just keeping my head out of the ground Chain (Or out of my own ass like the folks who think the Bush's are competent enough to have done an inside job on 9/11).

In my opinion, the kool-aid drinkers are those who continue to believe that nothing on the planet is worse than a Republican.

If OUR govt. was defending our borders and immigration laws like they are SUPPOSED to be doing this wouldn't be an issue!
I just can't understand this un-needed continuing, out of control immigration to this country!
For the "you'll be paying $8 a head for lettuce" crowd just HOW MANY lettuce pickers do we need? Surely not 20 million!
We need to start getting people out of this country not letting in more.

...er....so there are no such people as American muslim citizens? i am thinking of starting a thread about the dangers of untrained crochet artists so you can use it as an excuse to have a go at illegal immigration.........

Im MUCH more afraid of my own government pulling something off to SCARE the population back into abject fear and submission than I am of AL-----CIA------Da.

Oh wait....the CIA FUNDED the mujahadeen/alquaida/taliban back in the 70s to fight the Russssians.

OOOPS!@!!!!!!!!

Mabye they STILL are on the CIA Payroll.

sissifytoserve -> RE: Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 10:28:01 AM)

Personally....

I always liked this one of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam.

Sold lots of nice "weapons of mass destruction" to him.

WyrdRich -> RE: Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 10:37:15 AM)

That's right Sissify, the Bildeburghers are running the whole show.  The CIA is all-powerful and the White House is the central focus of all evil on Earth.

sissifytoserve -> RE: Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 10:45:29 AM)

The Bilderberg group is just ONE arm of the global conspiracy...get it straight.

To deny its existence and importance is just plain ignorant.

The internationalists are really the ones controlling/funding it all.

The SHADOW government IS allpowerful.

One only has to read some of the EXECUTIVE ORDERS in a "National emergency" to understand that.

Otherwise....you're just labeling people maliciously with the "tin-foil hat" mantra.

WyrdRich -> RE: Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 11:59:59 AM)

I believe the correct term has become "aluminum foil deflector beanie."  I don't doubt for a moment that people of wealth and power come together occasionally to talk about how to keep what they have and get more.  I also believe they are just as vulnerable to the law of unintended consequences as the rest of us.  Sometimes things done quietly, backfire nice and loud.  "It seemed like a good idea at the time," should be carved in stone at the entrance to the US State Department.

But those are not the only forces at work.  I tend to believe the Islamic crazy people mean it when they say this is war.

You raise an interesting point.

I can point to real harm the Republicans, particularly this administration, have done to this country. Popeye1250 notes how despite a bunch of hot air on the topic, they can't even properly patrol the borders. You know, before they freak out about the people in country - taking away our rights, harassing us at airports, etc - perhaps they could seal the fucking borders! Otherwise, we have to assume they have a different agenda than the one claimed, right? I mean, use your head - they say one thing and do another - so what's it all about, huh?

AQ may not even exist per se. Those empty caves we all saw in the news do not inspire me to fear or even believe in this supposed hydra-headed beast of independent terrorist cells. That sounds like a lot of crap. Now I know we were hit by government protected and sponsored Saudi Arabians and there are distinct business connections between the Bush family and the Saudis. But I guess it's easier to believe in a bogeyman than to trust what is hiding in plain view of all.

Let's say AQ does exist. How much do we know about them? Do you realize that the claim is that they are led by a man known as Osama bin Laden (you know, a member of the same family that are the friends of the Bush gang) but that we don't even know whether he is alive or dead? So we are being asked to believe in a terrorist organization of which there is precious little proof and whose top guy might be dead already.

Wake me when they capture a real known criminal like Emmanuel Goldstein.

WyrdRich -> RE: Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 2:52:24 PM)

I have my own peculiar theory about why border enforcement hasn't been made a priority but it is just a theory with nothing to back it (technically, I suppose that makes it a hypothesis).  Maybe I'll toss it out here one of these days and piss everybody off.

There are plenty of valid points to be made about the erosion of liberty.  Why is it necessary to link those points to a multitude of contradictory conspiracy theories?  It's like starting every discussion of NASA with a premise that we never really went to the moon anyway (just an example, can we PLEASE not go there?).

Chaingang -> RE: Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 2:55:34 PM)

I don't claim to know anything. But if you want to talk about this threat issue please first come up with some credible evidence that AQ even exists as a tangible threat in the first place. I say such evidence doesn't exist except exclusively as a scare tactic.

[Edit: I think I need to restate my last point, it's too vague. What I meant was that there is no hard evidence on the existence of AQ but that we are asked to believe in the mere asserted existence of AQ as a threat by our government for reasons that remain largely speculative.]

WyrdRich -> RE: Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 3:16:43 PM)

     Hmmm, lets see,

The 93 WTC bombing, USS Cole, two Embassies, the Khobar Towers and it seems there was one other fairly significant event that we just marked the anniversary of.  I am not prepared to accept that every video clip of AQ taking credit is part of some vast right-wing conspiracy.  It doesn't pass Occam's Razor, hell, it doesn't pass the sniff test.

Unless of course, the conspirators are so brilliant as to marginalize the dissent by making sure the loudest voices are total whacko's on the conspirators payroll.  How about it Chain, are you "my tax dollars at work?"  I notice the letters C-I-A all appear in your screen name.

I reject your premise that the existance of AQ as a threat needs to be proven.  If that is a mandatory starting point for you, then you've tossed your ability to persuade before the debate ever starts.

Chaingang -> RE: Al Queda warns Muslims to evacuate USA??? (9/24/2006 3:34:26 PM)

My view may be controversial, but I don't think it can be dismissed out of hand. See:
-----

Al-Qaeda has no clear structure, and this permits debate as to how many members make up the organization, whether it is millions scattered across the globe, or whether it is even zero. According to the controversial BBC documentary The Power of Nightmares, al-Qaeda is so weakly linked together that it is hard to say it exists apart from Osama bin Laden and a small clique of close associates. The lack of any significant numbers of convicted al-Qaeda members despite a large number of arrests on terrorism charges is cited by the documentary as a reason to doubt whether a widespread entity that meets the description of al-Qaeda exists at all. The extent and nature of al-Qaeda remains a topic of dispute.

The al-Qaeda name itself does not seem to have been used by bin Laden himself to apply to his organization until after the September 11 attacks. Previous attacks attributed to bin Laden and al-Qaeda were, at the time, claimed by organizations under a variety of names. Bin Laden himself has since attributed the al-Qaeda name to the MAK base in Pakistan, dating from the Afghan war days. Daniel Benjamin in "The Age of Sacred Terror" cites an incident in the early 1990s where a document titled "The Foundation", Arabic "Al-Qa'eda", was found on an associate of Ramzi Youssef [5]. Fawaz A. Gerges writes that "Although in 1987 sheikh Abdullah Azzam, the spiritual father of the Afghan Arabs, planted the seeds of a trans-nationalist organization called 'Al Qaeda al-Sulbah' (the Solid Foundation), the bin Laden network saw the light much later, around the mid-1990s."[6]

-----

Once you realize how loosely defined the whole thing is it starts to fall apart quite quickly. If you accept that Osama bin Laden is the head of this organization, you have an even bigger problem. You do realize that we have no idea of whether OBL is even alive or dead, right? What does that do to their supposed leadership? Right - no one knows because no one really understands what AQ even is - not even the people that argue for its existence.

Pretty funny really.

If we were talking about ANY OTHER THING and I provided you with this little evidence to support the existence of someone or something you would think I was literally insane.
