I also found it interesting that Clinton claims the Neocons effectively protected OBL during his administration, since 911 it could be said they have done the same thing. After all, there is no way it can be asserted that the Neocons are as interested in nailing OBL as they are in grabbing that Iraqi oil with both hands. So where is OBL? It is anyone's guess...
Also of note, Clinton tends to voice his concern about OBL as distinct from an entity since named "Al Queda" - he mentions once or twice that it's not what they called the organization then. In my view "Al Queda" is just a new name given to OBL's small clique of operatives.
The Republican campaign strategy - create fear. Don't solve the problem, keep it as a useful tool of social control. Consider this proposition: if OBL didn't already exist, Bush's administration would have to create him. Karl Rove's continuing fear strategy absolutely requires a bogeyman to strike terror into the hearts of Americans.
