Did they happen to mention who was taking the drugs? I mean are we talking about the young guy who works in tescos smoking a joint or the office manager snorting coke at lunch time? It's implying both and not really distinguishing between drug use to boost performance and the aftermath of a weekend on the lash. From a personal point of view, I'm not convinced drug use in the office is that widespread. I know of only one person caught doing drugs at work and that was a girl with heroin. Socially, I'm scratching my head and can only think of a few people I know who don't do drugs of some sort at the very least on a weekend. There is an element of the "fuck it" attitude about us as a society and we'll have a crack at most things (at odds with the impression that some foreigners have of us). I'm not convinced it's the "naughty boy" syndrome described by MC - more a case that young people in this country tend to want to indulge themselves in all sorts of arenas - whether it be drug use, alcohol use, sex, crime, eating, consumerism on clothes that cost half the price in other parts of Europe - you name it we indulge ourselves more than other young Europeans.
