Oh, c'mon guys; I remember when JFK went on TV to address the nation about a two dollar a ton increase in a ton of iron.

I am not going to argue with many of you (some I will, but you must have a little better repetoire than to have shown up as a talking head).

Iron that is fixed sells for about a hundred a ton (american two ways) cause the idea of war is to put up a wall of metal for shock and awe and killing motherfuckers as far as the eye can see, someone in canada or some place did a study and found out that humans cannot survive in a metal environment.

Raw scrap (not 3 foot lengths (prepared) iron) would have to go for about half that.

So--- where was the cry for the rise in crude oil when it should have been?

Cool, 2.19 at the pump, whatever....(Jesus, crude is 35 bucks a barrel) .....

Oh, my GAWD? Crude is up to 70 bucks a barrel, because we are at war with the non-existant terrorists and they could come in here and fly a plane into our oil supply (yeah, if it was that simple, it would have been done long before the world trade center)

So, wheat and other grains are going to take a boost this fall (other than soybeans perhaps) because meat is going to take a dump.

In the meantime for whatever reason (that is too secret for us to understand) because the president of the united states choked on a pretzel and had this vision---------(oh, and oilguys, but don't worry, it's in a blind trust) ...........

Or does CNN or FOX explain this in more realistic terms, somehow?

Perhaps guys like Rush are right? Ignorant assholes that talk loud and are media gurus, really do have the answer..........

So, this 19 year old kid calls me and tells me about options in the world sugar market and how we are gonna slaughter the lambs and pigs........

How he's a millionaire and I am in on the secret, because I am so special, got my name off this list of 5-10 people------but he cold calls on the phone from 9 to 5. It is pure altruism.

So what next?

Here in Canada we are still going strong. Syncrude did a multimillion dollar expansion this year that will continue for the next few to complete. All the rig companies (which i happen to work for a fairly large one) are running full out and putting out new rigs as fast as we can get them built. A new facility for heavy oil removal is being built in a small town nearby.

The price of oil per barrel had to come down as it was at an insane high for the last year or more and people could not sustain the prices. Don't worry it'll go back up. The main reason it dropped is that the third quarterly finacial just started and everything drops for a short time during this period, it's not a big crisis.

In Canada alone we are predicting atleast 15 years high productivity. The unfortunate things is do to the current boom the housing and services are suffering as they can not keep up. Things will have to level out to be sustainable. I doubt there is going to be a crash anytime soon though. Not here anyway. Alberta is fast tracking skilled labour immigration applications just to get the personnel we need in this province. One hotel, where i know the owner, has offered three 3 yr working visa's alone just to get staff.

Things are not slowing down, i think more likely they are finally hitting a more sustainable plateau.

Exactly Kedikat. The Republicans knew they couldn't get back into office with $3 gas prices. How accomodating of the oil companies to protect their best politicians at this time.

Hopefully come election day people won't be so dense as to think there is any other reason for this.

Oil is still much higher than $40/brl.   Markets move sinusodially. Now is the
time to buy oil futures and oil options. I am.  Oil will go over $100, after
Bush attacks Iran. That is when I plan to sell.   I predicted the increase
in oil prices fifteen years ago based on China's need for oil. In a global
economy with billions of Chinese and billions of Indians consuming oil-
based products, and buying petrol, it is only natural to see a huge
increase in energy costs. All natural resources should climb in price
even as teh price of goods comes down. Because the major cost
in manufacturing anything is labor. With chean Chinese and Indian
labor we can expect prcies to come down. Price protectionism
and import duties work against us.

I put gas in at $0.75/liter in Orillia the other day. I have not seen it that cheap in quite a number of years.

Is that per gallon or per liter? If it is per gallon why is it $3.00 per gallon in ontario...I am not from Canada so please enlighten me.

Yeah, that would be $3.00 CAD/gallon. I am not sure what that would be in USD. $2.75 maybe? It has been much higher than that recently.
