Bush said he agreed with the report's conclusions that al Qaeda is becoming more diffuse and decentralized but rejected the interpretation that the Iraq war had made the U.S. less safe.

-----

Gee, Al Qaeda - we hardly knew ye. Almost as if you never existed at all. Was Al Qaeda so effective that it has now disbanded? How odd...

...diffuse and decentralized...

Hmmm...could mean almost anything.

I'm still worried about the threat posed by the known arch-criminal Emmanuel Goldstein!

I trust Bush implicitly if he says we are more safe, I mean he is an expert on Chinesian and Grecian affairs after all

What is so odd is every time Shrub insists we are more safe, the homeland security color code gets raised which I always thought meant we were at greater risk.

At this point I am not certain who to believe.  I am fairly certain who not to believe, however.

Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.

What bugs me is the consistent willingness of the "Times" to publish classified information apparently to advance a partisan political position.  Did the Islamic crazy people really need to know that we were very quietly following their money?  Do they need a nice "keep up the good work, boys" pat on the back?

I may be incorrect on this, but my understanding was that when something was "declassified," that meant that it was no longer classified and was suitable for publication by the "Times."

Just me, could be wrong, etc.

Sinergy

p.s. I suspect it is not just the Times who is publishing it.  I suspect it was sent out over the news wire and was published by everybody except Faux News and anybody else Rupert Murdoch owns.

The N.Y. Times? I didn't realise they were still in business.
I thought they went bankrupt.
Oh well, they will be within five years.
That's what happens when you put the Editorials on the front page.
It'll be good to see them go.

It was originally leaked to the Times, who published the bits that fit their agenda.  The full (well, sort of) report is now being declassified so the information can be judged fairly and in context.

Everything is propaganda PaHunk.  The trick seems to be hanging tightly to your core values while reading everybody's dis-information.  Keep the BS filters working overtime while you do it.

i may not like or agree with her- but i know her news is more then a glitzy soundbite. i have come to respect her level of reporting.  she is speaking in some odd places lately. Salt lake city, and that region.

if we could have more of her integrety, journalism would win back it credibility and viewers.

she is too the left- but you see news there, weeks before the same story is on cnn or fox.

jeremy scahill is good too. he did a great peice on black water- doing work on katrina. black water is a security firm.  [one that doesnt ans to anyone...]

she hosts the show "democracy now." in case anyone wondering...

Wyrd, I'd put the N.Y.Times in the same shopping cart as the far right religious wackos.
